6.5 creedmoor bullets, who is shooting what

With proper load development they should all serve, but I’ve had good success with 147 eldm and 143 eldx. Plus they use the same load. Externally they’re very similar, the eldm pick up weight and bc from less copper in the boattail and no interlock ring

I started loading 140gr Nosler RDF's over Varget. When I was doing a ladder test with 3 round groups at 100 yards a few weeks ago it would put pretty much any of them under an inch if I did my part. The best of the groups was .125 if memory serves.

This cartridge is like fishing with dynamite.

I use IMR4350 in mine,I used it because I had lots of it.It works very well in my target rifle.I really haven't noticed any sudden changes in groups with temperature change, but then I am not target shooting when its below -10C.I shoot the 139 gr Scenars with it,they have worked great to 1200 yards.

It seems that around the sweet spot is around 140gr which is what I've been using for load development

I have a bunch of lighter bullets - 120 & 130gr`s - is it worth even trying them or should I sell them and pick up some 140s? Its for a 6.5 RPR if that makes a difference

I kinda want to find something that works and develop a load for it because I've tried a couple of different bullets and it feels like just as I'm finding the sweet spot I have to move on to something else and repeat the process all over again. I don't mind reloading but I really want to settle on something so I can concentrate on pushing out to longer distance.

Depends what you consider long distance. I ran the 123's for a season and at matches where 80 percent of the targets were in the 400-850 range and often obscured so my laser was hitting trees around them. The flat trajectory often made up for the +/- 20-30 yard readings I would sometimes get. If you are stepping out past 1000 consistently then focus on working up a load with the heavier bullets.
