6.5 creedmoor etiquette / hunting ammo choice

Cue adorable font> New to PRS with a 20" Tikka TAC A1 in 6.5 CM, printing steady 5 and V strikes at 600m. A 143gr ELD-X will give you approximately 1200ft/lbs. of pressure at 600m. I'd say you're good. Just make sure you're wearing the proper apparel. Perhaps a short brimmed fedora with an unstructured two piece with some oxfords.

This is correct. The worst part about owning a 6.5 Creedmoor is having to sit through the stories you get from old guys about their "6.5x55/260's that could do just as much as the 6.5 CM with the right load."

No reason why my 6.5x55 modern action with handload 140's at 2800fps cannot match what 6.5CM does .......

Both cartridges can and do and in fact can surpass it, because the real claim to fame for the Creedmoor is its magazine compatible design, which is exactly why it was made, but that has been all but forgoten except for the guys shooting National course high power it seems.:confused:

Modern Pressure 6.5 x 55 SE (modern higher pressure) will outstrip the CM performance wise. The old lower pressure, out performs the CM with heavy bullets.

Can't argue that point at all, in fact for a hunting rifle the Creedmoor is on the lower end of what I would pic in a 6.5 sized cartridge, but as I stated , it was not designed for that , it was designed too cycle well in the Tubb type 2000 mags and stay in the window for longer range accuracy.
In the same action if I had a pick it would be the Swede all day long for a hunting rifle..
However as I have a set of Redding competition dies hanging around, my next single shot is getting done in .260 Remington.
I sold my match rifle barreled inn 6.5 Creed only because I have a bunch of others in 308 and in 6mmBR

143ELDX launched at 2600 from 20" barrel. Sika Stag 350m.

with a short 20" barrel I still think the CM has the edge over the Swede because of the higher pressure. Modern 6.5x55 pressure as in the CIP is only 3800bar (same as 8x57, 7x57) vs ~4300bar for the CM. I have not heard of a +P version of the Swede as in +P stamped brass.
