6.5 creedmoor etiquette / hunting ammo choice

I shoot a 6.5x55 but what I shoot they make the same for the creed..i use factory lapua ammo 139 scenars and hornady superformance 140 sst , I use the sst for anything from groundhogs to elk.
Last elk I shot it left a baseball size exit wound.
Both of these rounds are higher velocity and perform very well.

Also, with all the powder talk in regards to handloading, I use RL16. I get good velocity (2760 from my 22” barrel and 2680 from my 20” barrel, both at 41.3 grains) and it is very temp stable. I chose it over h4350 because it is supposed to be more temp stable, I haven’t compared the two directly but RL16 has proven very stable. I have no input on the 6.5staball, this is the first I’ve heard of it, it does sound intriguing but I’m going to stick with what I know works for now.

Well I can now add a comment based on experience.
The 6.5 Creedmoor with the 143 eldx bullet stopped a 3 point whitetail buck (at 70-80 yards) instantly. It was a quartering away shot, and the bullet penetrated thru and exited. Yes I realize a sample of one is nothing to draw conclusions about, and realistically, any reasonable cartridge would have had the same results, but I am happy with the results. Happy enough infact that I am thinking I no longer need my .270 Win.

I told my buddy I was taking the creedmoor out to put a few through at the range.. “I hear they’re a good little gopher gun” he responded. I’ll be sending pics of it on any game I get but it is good fun to tease your buds about stuff like that

I use 4064 in my 6.5CM, may not be the best velocity but it is definitely the most accurate. It is a 26" HB however...I hunt with a 6.5x55 most of the time, have a nice handling light weight 21" HVA Dahlberg that is my go to. I've dropped some big black bears on the spot with it and 140gr Hotcores.

One of the writers at Chuckhawks claimed that the 6.5x55 would feed more reliably than the Creedmoor with its gentler case shape. I don't see many people complaining about unreliably feeding Creedmoors, but I have a Swede so what do I know!

Seeing how the Creed was designed to feed better than the other 6.5'sthrough the short action National Course rifles , and I have NEVER seen anyone with a feed issue at the range thhat was using a 6.5 Creedmoor, I would say that the Chuck Hawkes writer is full of it.
It's undeniably a great little cartridge, but soo are most of the 6.5 cartridges.......
