6.5 Creedmoor loads

2 lbs, poor guy: but hey: Congrats...... unless you got three 8lbs kegs you are going no where.
2 Lbs: its 335 ROUNDS
Of course, if you shoot as much as you type on the keyboard, you will shoot and burn a barrel every year.

IMR4831 Powder is a PRETTY old powder TOO ! BUT it is still one of the MOST popular powders still in use today and Very POPULAR in F Class Rifles with 284 Win Cartridge ! The only real improvement to it over the years is you can now get Short Cut for better metering- weighting ! RJ

It Must work because the 284 WIN is a OLD cartridge too ! :p lol RJ

I’m getting very good speed with my barrel with the IMR variant.

Really? How does one judge that?

Ok, I’m out. But do people really need to make comments like the one todbartell made? What does that accomplish? People should realize that there are other choices to be made. Besides the “well…it’s designed for the cartridge” or “it’s the most popular” blanket statements that keyboard warriors make all of the time. It really is no wonder some of the best minds have left the building when it comes to contributing here.

Soapbox rant over. Sorry to those that I have offended. I guess my only crime was posting a load. Just what the op asked.

From using it, the standard IMR lines leave a lot of carbon in my barrels compared to the H lines with the same names.
Not a huge deal.

Great derail on the IMR 4350 diatribe, guys. :)
Cleanest powders I have used in recent years are those offered by Vihtavuori of Finland.
I see their reloading website lists quite a few suitable for the 6.5 CM, too.
I have a quantity of 6.5 Staball that I will try also. Dave.

CFE223 should work good as well, but haven't tried it yet in any of my 6.5 CM cause I've still got 6 LBS of H4350 and 600 ELD-x 143's

I'm using it (CFE223) for my Mountain Ascent 7mm-08 with Speer 130 BTSP's and it is working excellent...1.5" group at 300 yards yesterday

I said I was going to resist buying a 6.5 CM, but Bullseye offered such a smoking deal on a rifle/scope combination that I caved.

It is a Howa [Legacy Sports model] with a sub MOA guarantee. Comes with a Leupold VX3i 3.5-10 x 40 CDS, in Leupold bases &
rings. Unit looks pretty nice, overall. Checked the trigger pull - 2¾ lbs, and consistent. 3 position safety. Twist: 1 - 8"
Also came with a muzzle brake, but I screwed it off and installed the supplied cap. Barrel is 22"

So, my question to all those who load for the 6.5CM, what have you found works for you? I would be particularly interested in
loads using IMR or H 4350, IMR 4451, Alliant Reloder 17 & 19, or Vihtavuori N150 and 550.

Thanks in advance, Dave.

39.5 grains or RL19, over CCI250 primers, under 129grn Hndy ELDs = 2850+ fps from a 22.5 in, 1-8 twist barrel. HOT but safe in my Tikka.

Same rifle, 38 grains RL19, over CCI250 primers under 140grn Hndy SST = 2540fps avg. HOT but safe in my rifle.

Late to the dance, and probably just as well.
I've had good success with H4350 using heavier bullets in the 6.5 CM, heavy meaning 139 gr Scenar. That's with SRP Lapua brass and Federal 205 Match primers in warm weather.

N150 was too fast burning with the 139 Scenars, I couldn't get the speed I wanted before also getting signs of excess pressure. N160 worked much better with the 139 gr, the N150 seems to be a good choice for some 123 gr Sierra Match Kings I have.

If you use H4350, be aware that there can be some variance from lot to lot. If you have a load that's fairly hot, I'd suggest backing off a grain or two and working back up if needed when you change lots.

And finally, if you're going to shoot a 6.5 Creedmoor, you need to grow a man-bun or wear a wool toque year-round to fill out the hipster image.. or so I've been told 😉

I have loaded up some Lapua Brass [SRP] with IMR 4451, H4350 and StaBall.
Bullet weights : 120, 129 and 140 We'll see what happens. Dave.

Dave have you considered RL-22 and/or VV N 560 which is very close in burn rate.

RL-22 is my 'go to' powder for the 260 Rem which is in the realm of the 6.5cm. With a 140 gn Berger Hybrid.

Brad; I have N560, RL 22 and RL 23 plus Norma 204 & MRP, which are all candidates
for the 140 grain bullets in the creed. I will be playing with them soon. :) Dave.
