6.5 Creedmore

For accuracy loads (Aka not max loads) out of a 25" prefit barrel I am getting 3000+/- from a 130gr.

I have not chronied 140s since it was a 26" barrel but was obtaining 2850-2900 with near max loads of H4831sc. You can get in the 2950 range with a little tweaking, signs of pressure, and a 28" barrel. Of course we are at 1740ft at our range so this may vary for you. Have Fun!

just spoke to Sr Jr on the ph. He said the Savage Rep told him that absolutely nothing would be cheap about the 6.5 C, brass, reloading supplies etc. No cheap factory ammo available, none! Not that we want or use cheap s**te, but, he pointed that out! And the fact that here in this fine Centre-of-Canada, stockless empty shelved location, factory ammo would likely be hard to find at times, most times. And any advantage in accuracy would not be noticed in any way with the lil Savage light weight hunter rifle, so he strongly avised him to go for the 260 instead! He wanted the customer to be happy with the purchase of a hunting rifle! I think it was the right choice. The 260 puts nothing but super smiles on all of our faces, including my yougest Jr with his Ruger M77 Stainless/walnut and me with my Browning s/s Stalker. Got nothing against the 6.5 C and no experience with it. Looking forward to up and coming info on it.

WOW, kudos to that rep. That is sound advice.

The 6.5 Creedmore is a game specific chambering. If you want to mag feed from short length mags, it also works well.

reloading tools are rare but you can make other chamberings work. Brass is by Hrn only unless you want to fireform from 22-250.

But in a Savage, you have a very long mag so why not use a larger STANDARD case.

Anything the 6.5C can do, the 260Rem can exceed when pushed to the same pressures.

The Swede will exceed them both at the same pressure levels.

I think the 6-6.5Creedmore is the much better option. Or you could just build a 6XC and get the same thing.

Some interesting feedback.

I had been toying with the idea of trading/selling my .243 Win for the 6.5 Creed, but wasn't sure if anyone had actually put some quality hunt time behind one yet. The .243 is a double duty Coyote/Deer rig, but having a 22-250 in the stable has me wondering if I'm over-lapping a little too close ballisticly/trajectory & accuracy wise, hence the 6.5 Creed.

Thanks to all who have chimed in thus far
