6.5 Grendel flinger of choice?

Any of these little AR mag length cartridges with the appropriate bullet is a wash on deer sized game out to 300.
I spent alot of time with the 6.5G back before COVID and was never really enamored by it. Is the 6.5G better performing on medium game past 300yds due to slippery bullets? Well, sure, but if I'm planning on shooting on live game past that then the 6.5 I'd reach for wouldn't have the letter G in it's name.

Now,more than ever I gravitate towards .30cal and .224 for the bulk of my recreational shooting due to component shortages/prices. The Nostradamus in me predicts things will get worse before they get better with Israel/Palestine now needing to feed their pew-pews.

This is pretty much where i have settled. I have a RAR in 556 and x39. That covers 99% of my shooting/survival needs long term. Cheap to feed, reliable, accurate. Still wouldn't mind adding a 300 BO to use up the giant pile of 30 cal boolits i have in inventory or to shoot subs... but then the 255 grain sub-x loads from Hornady for the x39 make chasing that probably unnecessary.

Far be it for me to say not to...love that little round, and being able to make it out of 223 brass. But what kind of 30 cal bullets do you have? Can you just load them in 7.62x39?

I think the Rugers have a 308 bore instead of 311...might be wrong.
My CZ has a 311 and shoots 308 well.

The Rugers are a .310, but a loose 308 barrel and a tight .310 barrel kinda meet in the middle lol.

They shoot 30 cal bullets fine anyway!

The older Mini 30s and the new Ruger Americans have a different bore/throat. Maybe the M77 MkII as well?

Some i most likely can. I'll be experimenting more this winter. 300 has 2 other big drivers for me. SRP and cheap abundant brass. I wish we would get another shipment of Rugers in 300 up here, they used to be easier to get than 556. I should have jumped back then. Ive though hard about re-barreling but at roughly $1000 for that on top of the rifle... it's a pricey route to shoot cheap.

Get a Bell and Carlson Stock from Prophet River, problem solved.

I got this one from Tenda for $800. Smooth as a push feed, they fixed the stock bedding in 2018 to prevent cracking, it's also sub moa with handloads, not bad with surplus.
Only problem it's it's a bit too pretty for the bush lol.

Here you go.

Dang, that looks great. I like a bit of a gap anyway as it allows me to oil the underside of the barrel normally hidden by the forestock.

EDIT: I bought the Brown w/ black web stock. The remaining B&C Olive stock also sold.

I’ve put together several 527s in those stocks, they’re really nice and comfortable. First was a 6.5 Gren that guntech barrelled for me fifteen years ago with a Shilen long before they were a factory offering. Also put a 6.5 MTR in one, and a 7.62x39 in later years. About the best scout rifle I’ve played with.
