6.5 Grendel flinger of choice?

I have a ranch rifle in 6.5 Grendel. Incredible accuracy. It's one of my tree stand rifles along with one in 350 Legend.
Take about 40 rounds to get rid of that zipper sound they are famous for but holy crap are these guns accurate.
One of my hunting group has 527 in Grendel. It's a one hole gun. The most accurate rifle i've ever seen

Happy you're getting those results!

Honestly find the Howa minis sound just as zippery or at least close tbh.

I’ve put JB bore paste on the bolts that ‘zip’ and cycled the action a couple of hundred times. It greatly reduces the sound.

My Tikkas are silent and smooth, my Howa minis only have a slight zipper to them. Noticeably less than my RPR and nowhere near as bad as my dad's Savages.
Surprisingly my x39 Howa is smoother than the grendel.

Last RAR I got had no zipper, everyone before that had it bad...guess they slowed down the CNC.
Last Howa full size I got has the zipper, first one out of dozens. I dunno, guess they figured if Ruger can get away with it why not? Lol
Now, the Howa was cheap on sale, $550, but it's a hunting rifle in 6.5PRC, shoots really good or I would have dumped it. Seems to be coming from the anti bind bolt guide rail in the receiver, not easy to get at to smooth it out.

Looks like the last B&C 527 stock at Prophet River sold. I also got mine in the mail today. I will install later. It certainly looks very nice and sturdy. I like the brown colour too.

My Howa mini purchased in 2020 doesn't ZIP ZIP ZIP when working the bolt. The newer ones all seem to do it. It makes them seem like a piece of junk

On my fourth Howa mini now and none exhibit any unusual bolt noise. Each one is well machined, smooth operating and feeding and shows even wear marks on the locking lugs. Only thing I could fault them for is the amount of cocking effort needed on opening, but that is easily remedied with an oversized knob.

Of the three Ruger Americans I’ve owned only one had the zipper sound complete with the accompanying chatter marks on the bolt. This particular one was an early rotary mag Ranch, the other two were newer AR magazine models and have no noise.
In fairness that noisy one did start to quiet down as the round count went up and I’m sure if I had kept it instead of updating to the newer AR version one it would have worn in nicely.

Yeah my kid struggles reloading the Howa. He runs a tikka really well

between the 6.5 Grendel, 6mm ARC and the upcoming 22 ARC, I think we will see more rifles chambered in these smaller rounds in the coming years

I don’t understand the point of these small rounds chambered in full size actions tho. I have this thing wrong with my brain where the action has to be properly sized for the round or I won’t even consider buying it lol.

Think I have the opposite going on lol. Even something that short in a Tikka long action doesn't bother me. Would take it over a Howa Mini in a flash
