6.5 Grendel?

One Thing I. DON’T LIKE About the CF stock is it’s VERY slippery ! Looking to see what I can put on it to reduce that problem. RJ

If I do something about it I'd likely look at this stuff. https://talongungrips.com/other-grips/diy-material/ Talon Grip Tape. Guys put on metal chassis rigs to warm them up a bit for hands and also add texture/grip. You can heat gun it to get it to really form. They do around m-lok channels etc.

The hinged bottom kit came in for mine. Jefferson Outdoors, Same guy who does the CZ bottom end kit. It functions great, feeds excellent, 4 rounds plus 1 up the pipe, feels like a rem 700 feeding, little smoother than the CZ kit. So you save 1/4 lb from CZ bottom end if you can live without a quality detach mag. I think there's also about 2 oz of fat in the CZ bottom kit that could be Swiss cheesed out if a guy was really obsessive. ;)

5 lb 6.0 oz scoped rifle, balances on front action screw. I add in 9 round butt stock shell holder 1.0 oz and 36mm alumina flip cap for scope end 0.5 oz and a band of electrical tape on barrel for muzzle for a total weight of 5 lb 8 oz (5 1/2 lbs) with those little accessories. When I took the tape off it was 5 lb 7.5 oz, amazing how every little thing counts.

That looks nice, but why do you need 14 shots when the Grendel is the Best?

RJ or blakeyboy what is the largest contour barrel that you think would fit in that Stockys CF barrel channel?

No idea. Pretty sure you can order it for the heavy barrel model inlet also if you're worried, or just have local smith open it up to whatever barrel you go with. I'm guessing it's about a #2 taper on the 22" sporter models.

Jim, you can run skateboard grip tape... you can cut it out to fit a checkering pattern of your choice on the pistol grip and on the fore arm. It looks good this way, and functions well. You can do a search for printable checkering patterns, and get as fancy, or as plain as you like.
You may find that the Plasidip will have a hard time staying put on the carbon fibre, and will peel on the edges, and eventually turn into a bit of a mess.

That is the exact stuff, I have used it on some of my past projects and it is a very durable paint as well as having that grit embedded in it.

Note the exact match in color to the NULA Mel built me...damn I miss that rifle!

Here is some real world experience
I use 243, 350 Legend, and 6.5 Grendel.
243 hammers deer - 45 years and counting.
However, the last 3 years I have used 350 Legend for under 175yds in my tree stands.
Absolutely wicked dropping power. 3 bucks dropped on the spot.
I use a Ruger Ranch rifle for that round because of barrel length. My tree stands are hard to use longer barreled rifles.

I use my Howa 6.5 Grendel for several box stands that have longer shot requirements.
A couple of my box stands require 300yd range rifles.
My son has dropped 2 bucks from the box stand at 250yds with it.
It is a real zinger. They are using 6.5 Grendel for Elk in the States.
