6.5 Mannlicher Schonauer load

Usually a bullet is specified for a specific cartridge because its designed to produce optimum terminal effects with a specific velocity envelope. You wouldn't expect a 170 gr .30/30 bullet to perform well if it was loaded on a .300 magnum for example. Similarly, provided you load the 160 gr 6.5 Carcano bullet on a cartridge with moderate case capacity rather than a .264 Winchester Magnum, you can expect good results. As a side note, too bad more bullet manufacturers don't recommend a velocity range for their bullets like Woodleigh does.

Very good gents Thank you! I seen Tradex carries the brass, but 160 grain, round nose bullets bullets appear scarce. I'm glad to read there's such knowledge that can be found on here..

You should slug your bore. Many of the bbls are like .265 , .267.

RL 19 worked best in many of mine. The 2 choice bullets in my oversized bores were the 160 RN, and the TSX 130 gr flat base. The 130 gr TSX was amazing in a one hole group. The 160 not far behind. I figure the long bearing surface of those 2 bullets helped compensate for the oversize bores.

I tend to load just the 130 gr now.

BTW - some may suggest to use the Carcano bullet - don't do it! Its too large even tho its only 1 or 2 thou larger.
