6.5 Needmoor ~ Federal +Peak

Shhhh....We're busily yakking about Pascal's law without considering that pressure isn't uniform at every instant, and thinking of bolt thrust as a simple pressure x volume/area calculation. "Assume the cow is spherical" lol

Who needs follow up shots? Place the first one properly :p use some kind of hydraulic system to pull the bolt back at home
Pascals law is about uncompressable fluids in an enclosed area. Neither powder nor the gases created by burning that powder are uncompressible fluids, and a cartridge case isn't an enclosed area - the bullet moves before peak pressure is reached.

I've never seen someone use "laws of physics" incorrectly so many times in a single thread.

Its an accomplishment of sorts lol

Some folks here have CDS

Creedmoor Derangement Syndrome
Some folks are just plain dumb, and certainly take advantage of certain topics to showcase that fact.
The lack of knowledge of basic interior ballistics, reloading, and yes, barrel wear, is shocking, especially when put forth by those that believe themselves to be “experts”, “knowledgeable”, and “experienced”.

I'd rather trust Federal and all their R&D at this point until proven wrong... then random avatars on a forum that haven't seen the ammo let alone shot it yet.

What's wild to me is that this thread is 18 pages of nothing in a sub forum that is supposed to be about guns...and a mod closed the much smaller thread in the ammo sub forum, and linked everyone here. Logically the discussion about ammo should be in the ammo sub...but oh well.

If this goes well for federal this +Peak is for sure gonna land in other calibres. Be cool to see it in some straight walls. (350L, 400L, etc)

Some also enjoy sarcasm, satire, and the ridiculous. The entertainment value of such knows no bounds!! ;)

Don't forget .22 Short; performance equal to .22 WMR. LOL... Call it the .22 CMR (R for Rimed).

The Vortex Nation guys did a podcast about this ammo with a couple of Federal's people, and that answered a lot of questions that I had about the 6.5 +Peak (if you want to disregard everything a Federal employee says because you're sure they're biased, that's up to you).
Apparently the guys at Proof shot 5,000 rounds of 7mm BC through one of their PXT barrels at a brisk cadence and it was holding sub-MOA accuracy after that with no velocity drop. Did the same thing with a standard-twist barrel and got to 3000 rounds before accuracy fell off. Now not everyone is shooting a Proof barrel but I have to think that indicates we aren't going to be melting our 6.5CM barrels in under a thousand rounds with this new ammo.
I personally know exactly one person who actually burned out a barrel as the sole shooter of the rifle.
As far as increased recoil, they (again, Federal) claim they've demoed this ammo for people and they mixed up regular brass rounds with +Peak in a mag and the shooter couldn't tell you which was which. If that turns out to be true I'm going to say they've got a winner.
I have a 6.5CM and if this ammo had come out a month sooner I probably wouldn't have bought another 6.5-300Wby until after trying it.

Glad im not the only one who actually took 1.5 hours to listen to that and educate myself, I learnt a lot in that podcast. I think a few folks here should also take the time to listen to it and have their questions answered.

Of course you're always going to have the group that DGAF what anyone says the 6.5 Creed will always suck, this ammo will blow up your rifle and you'll burn a barrel in 500 rounds, and nothing will change their mind.

I wasn't a huge 6.5 NeedMore fan to begin with, short of for PRS/NRL Hunter use, but this +Peak "peaks" my interest, and listening to the podcast, theres more cartridges in the works for this already. They were hinting at 308 which would be neat as well.

There were people saying that stuff on this thread before that podcast aired.
