6.5 x 52 Carcano

Some gun shops have a box or 2, It's expensive, usually Norma brand but if you're lucky, you can get it made by Privi.
Try some of the site sponsors.

BTW where are you located, near London?

Trade-Ex stocks the 6.5x52R cartridge.

R is RIMMED.

Carcano round is RIMLESS.

6,5x52R is the European designation for the old .25-35 WCF. It will NOT chamber in a Carcano. Works fine in a lot of old European single-shots and Drillings, though.... and can keep Grandpa's old 94 running into its third century. Winchester stopped making the rifles in 1935, which was a very real loss; it was a great old round.

To try to be helpful, though, Trade-Ex DOES stock 6.5 CARCANO brass in bags of 50 and they also generally have the special Hornady-made Carcano bullets. If you are using the Lee hand priming tool, you can use the Number 2 holder (same as .30-30) and it works fine. I just did up 55 rounds this way; we'll know on Saturday if they can hit anything!

Hope this helps.

Word to the wise, I believe the Canada Ammo Prvi Partizan 6.5mm Carcano is loaded with a .264 bullet instead of the correct .268, so it may not shoot very well. Don't know 100%, never tried it.

NYLES is, of course, quite correct in his statement.

The PP Carcano ammo is loaded with .264 slugs.

All MILITARY ammo I have is loaded with .266.

SOME Carcanos were built with very tight bores. I have a Model 41 here which shoots brilliantly with a .264 bullet. OTOH, I also have a few which NEED that .268.

Standards which are kept very closely in peacetime do tend to go to hell when the chips are down, you are in a war.... and you are losing.

NOE makes fantastic 145Gr,.269 mold.I think they have it in stock again.

One hast to drill out seating die to accept this guy.

Tip-Lee neck sizer for 6.5 Swede works just fine on Carcano brass as is but can be ground/machined in 5 minutes to work 100%.
