I have been loading for, shooting, and hunting the 6.5x55 for almost 3 decades now.
It is a wonderful round. Mild mannered and quite effective. I think the swedes were onto something, lol.
If you like the 160 [often the most accurate bullet in the Swede] Woodleigh makes 2 versions,
both of which will stabilize nicely in a 7.8" or an 8" twist. One is a RN projectile - #80B.
The other is a pointed version, #80A. For any bulllet from 139 grains and up, slow powders are best
in this case. I like Reloder 22, Norma MRP, H4831sc, IMR 4831 and Vihtavuori N165.
I have a Remington "Classic" so chambered, and it is on it's 3rd barrel, so that is an indication
of how much my 6.5x55 gets shot.
