Been many moons since I had a rifle chambered in 6.5x55. About 30 years ago, when I was first getting into deer hunting, one of my first rifles was a near new Swedish M38 in 6.5x55. My father had picked up two of them when they were coming into the country. I recall shooting Norma 156 grains in that rifle, and being amazed at the accuracy of that rifle. That was the last time I shot that caliber. I now have a CZ 550 Lux in 6.5x55 coming. I am not set up for reloading, and yes, I know it is he way to go. However, wondering what factory 6.5x55 ammo guys are having the best luck with, especially anyone with a CZ. I see you can still find Norma (they have some different loadings now though, an Alaska, Vulcan, Noslee Partition; Hornady makes a custom load, there is PRVi, Sellier and Bellot, Federal Fusion, etc. I am not sure what the rate of twist is in the CZs, and what they prefer.

The 6.5X55 is a great cartridge, I load for my Ruger M77 MKII, so I can't help with the factory ammo... but if you do get into loading, the 140 Accubond is an excellent bullet for the cartridge... and I often load the inexpensive 129 SST's for deer... they are plenty accurate and hold together well enough for whitetails.

Mine shoots Nosler Accubond very well but they are reloads. Very well as in cloverleaf, I don't know if any factory loads come with the accubond but all the 6.5s I have loaded for haven't been fussy at all.

Thanks for the info. I have not seen factory accubonds yet, but I have just started looking. I love Rugers. One in 6.5x55 would be nice, would also like to find a tang safety in 284 and 7x57.

I know a fellow that has a few of both of those, but good luck getting them... I will PM his handle and you can try.

The middle rifle is the 6.5X55...

Still kicking myself for not buying the one you sold on the EE, Hoyt hahaha

Loading a 140 grain Hornady Interbond for the range and soon a 140 grain Nosler Partition for everything else. Both IMR 4831

If I had to buy? Norma loads the same. Or Laupa's 155 grain Mega soft point.

A fair bit of factory ammo available, yes. I reload for mine but if I needed to shoot factory ammo I would look for Norma, Lapua and RWS offerings as well as the Hornady SuperPerformance as mentioned.
These will offer higher velocities for your modern rifle than the watered down NA ammo.
Probably more $$ and a bit harder to find mind you.
I have a CZ 550 in 9.3x62 and it is very accurate.
Good luck!

M96 Swedes have a twist rate of 1:7.87. My tikka has a twist rate of 1:8 and loves 139 grain scenars. My cz with the 1:8.66 as mentioned earlier isn't a fan of anything above 130 grains.
