6.5x55 Swede CG 63 help request

So, not sure what to say. You are way beyond the velocity that Hornady 9th publishes as their presumably pressure tested loads, for 140 grain bullets in a 29" barrel. And you are doing that in a 104 year old receiver. What could they possibly know??

Hornady knows that they wil get sued if someone shoots one of their loads in an old Krag or M94 and gets hurt. Also, compare their loads with other book loads and you will see that they are consistently conservative. 257 Weatherby Mag. Is a case in point. The M96 is a much stronger action than the Krag and M94.

I'm looking for some help, I loaded as per the spec at 140 grain bullets. 42 gr Sta-Ball and I am showing pressure signs with my Hornady SST and Interlocks. I've tried Swedish mil brass ,Win and Federal also. So to start with I am trying to find one that works with the longer 28" barrel this thing has.

I'd prefer to stay with the standard 140 grain bullet weight, but other than that, I'll buy new powder if required.
I've got 4831 , Varget, 6.5 Sta-Ball on hand as well as a few others.
I always used Norma mrp or Vihtavouri N165 and Lapua scenar bullets 139gr

Non of the primers pictured show over pressure. These are

From Doug Bowser's book "Neutrality thru Marksmanship". Load for an "as issued" M96 Swedish Mauser. Using 140 grain bullet, Lapua virgin brass, Federal Match primers.
IMR 4831, 40.0 gr, 2423 f/s, group at 100 yards, 1.5 inches.
IMR 4831, 44.6 gr, 2690 f/s, 1.75 inches.
Norma Military load, 2626, 1.5 inches.

The only powder I've used in the past twenty years for the 6.5 Swede is Reloader 22. Good velocity and and zero pressure signs with bullets from 120-140 grains. For the '96 just use the reloading manuals recommendations and you'll be fine. For modern rifles You can definitely increase the powder amounts.
