Looking for a bit of info , carbine is 17 1/4" barrel length. 6.5 x 55 swede . carl gustafs stads gevarsfaktorl. over all length 38 1/2" .The only thing i have been able to find online states this carbine is highly sought after and collectable.the furniture is typical military rough, but the action / bore is near perfect / all #'s match.
this is my favorite caliber( have another for myself),perfect length carbine for my son,i was going to scope it . this would obviously destroy any collector value.
my question is ,is this carbine truly rare ? or should i go ahead & just scope it & have the perfect little rifle for my son? sell it and put the money towards a ruger compact? i'm realy not liking the thought of desecrating a rare piece of military history but would like to confirm that this is or isn't.
any thought on value ?

It's worth $500-1000 if it's a M94 Carbine and it's in original condition. Scope it and the value is cut in half - at least.

Your gun, your choice.

oooo lord

well from all the pic's i've looked at, it seems the gentleman who left the carbine to me ( old gun buddy - no slagging him as he's gone - nuff said ) had decided to shorten the little carbine a bit. it has a post front site . ( will post some pics), i can;t find any pics online like this . leads me to believe he chopped it.... dam .looks prof. done though ? anyway like i said will try and post pics. thx for all the help so far.

Yah that looks more like a chopped M38 as the M94 Carbine looks way different at the muzzle end.

At this point I'd say go ahead and scope it.

dam

well i appreciate your restaint in replying to this thread, ya i know its a crime it was chopped but he was a decent guy.worse case - my son has a fantastic little carbine in my fav. caliber . not so bad realy. thx all

I don't know why its such a big deal if some one chops up an old surplus rifle that is really of no value I mean Swede m38's , no 4 le's, sks (even russians)mosins, etc etc etc. If I had a m38 sitting in front of me right now that was miss matched or not in pristine condition in any way I would chop her off at 18.5'' and try my damnedest to make it look like a 94 carbine. That little carbine looks like it would be much handier than the original rifle would have been. I say you buddy did a good job, scope her and let us know how she shoots. And all you anti bubba guys should thank this man because its modified rifles like this that are the only chance you have for your common surplus rifles to become special. :stirthepot2: Now I'm off to the EE to look for a M38 Ive been inspired.

PS. The dog in my avatar His name is Bubba so I guess you can say I like Bubba.
