6.5x55 sweed dies....just arrived! :)

Seems a bit of a waste to shoot slow burning powder from a short barrel, and get a huge muzzle blast, excess noise, etc.....Especially when a faster powder will result in a more complete burn, with none of the a fore mentioned side effects.
But I'd like to see your findings to better understand whatever explanation they give powder selection not mattering.[/QUOTE]

My older Tikka ( M65 ) has a 20.5 " bbl. and makes awesome groups with loads using both RL22 and H1000.... no problems with noise, muzzle blast and all have a complete burn... :)

6.5x55 takes to the slower powders ... like real maple syrup makes the pancake.

'Sides, ... that orange scope glow that blots yer view on recoil? ... Proof positive ... no blink'n nor flinch'n threw off that shot. ;)

Mine behaves the way...no sense using a faster powder unless you really dont' want the velocity that this cartridge should produce.

I use a faster powder for the lighter bullets like the 85gr. Sierra HP. (4064)
