Amen. Been kicking serious long range ass and dropping every type of large North American game for more than 100 years and it is still one of the best.
I've been looking for one ever since I tried my friend's CZ at the range. Right after I get a ruger #1 in .303 to go with the one I have in 7X57. I just love these old clibers. I was at the range shooting the 6.5 and one of the guys there was trying to sight-in his brand new remmy in .300 wsm and he was flinching to hell and back. Asked him why he bought it and he told me it was to hunt deer. The guy at the store told him :best caliber there is for deer. I let him try the 6.5 and he was impressed with it smooth operating and hardly any recoil. Told me he was going to sell it and get himself something like that little gun. Sometimes it pays to listen to your guts rather than the guy behind the couter trying to sell you the new wonder round
Me too! except mine was a white tail buck, even have him hanging on the wall. The wife was supposed use the same rifle for her first kill but she hasn't got one yet. She sure kills the 100yd gong with it though!
I've come full circle. My first rifle was a Swedish Mauser, then as my budget increased I ended up trying everything under the sun. A couple years ago I picked up a stainless Sako 75, and haven't looked back. I had forgotten how much I really like this cartridge.
Shot my first deer with my Ljungman...25 years ago. I've quite a few different irons now but, as stated before...if I had to be limited to just one chambering...
