Gentlemen:

To the OP, nice looking carbine you have there, with an excellent caliber choice.

The question should not be Why, but WHY NOT choose the 6.8 SPC??

What other Caliber give you 80% the power of a 7.62 Nato, (up to about 300 meters), Has only 20% more recoil than 5.56 Nato, and fits into an AR-15 foot print.

Some would say ammo. Well that is no longer the case. Any dealer the deals in Remington ammo can order it for you. While it is being used by the military, it not designated a Military cartridge, and therefor dose not have the restricitons associated with it that ball ammo does.

Further, reloading components are easily found in Canada. 6.8 is just 0.277 caliber, and bullets from 90 to about 115 grain will work.

While it may not be for everybody, it is an excellent cartridge that was purpose driven, and I think we will be seeing a lot more of it in the days to come.

These are just my thoughts.

That is a nice looking rifle.
It would be an awesome deer rifle you should get out and bag a nice blacktail with it...Oh wait never mind :(
 
Well if hunting with a 6.8 SPC turns your crank, Robinson Arms makes the XRC in one, and I understand that for a while Remington offered it in there 700 police.

I never understood why Remington has not offered one of their 7615 pump rifles in 6.8 SPC. To my mind that would make an excellent combination.

Thanks for the replies. I've never had any problem obtaining 6.8SPC ammo. I've also been thinking of buying 6.8SPC brass from ssarmory. They told me last year they could ship me some :D but I have yet to start reloading.
 
Weighed in today at 7.3lbs unloaded but as I was weighing in I discovered that my sight stop and spring are MISSING/LOST from the front sight of the Magpul MBUS Gen 1 sight which meant no range time for me this afternoon. A friend suggested I get out the drill and then tap the sight horizontally to engage the sight post threading upon sighting in. An excellent idea but I think a set of YHM QDS "IRON" BUIS is more to my liking than repairing what I originally thought were good sights. And they probably are, but I don't think I can rely on the MBUS' anymore after this: I think the Gen 2 MBUS may be a lot better with regard to this issue.

Here's a critical thread on the MBUS. Looks like I'm going to have to make a change having that MBUS on my gas block.

Upgraded from the Badger Tactical Latch to a BCM Gunfighter charging handle today. This is a more hefty charging handle.
