$6.99 challenger trap on sale @ Cabelas + free shipping of $99

Why buy a flat if this is for small game hunting only? At the rate you are going, it'll take 20 years to go through a single box. Seriously, pick up a box of #4 and a box of #6 - that's all you need.
Regarding your question, I would use #4 for rabbits and #6 for grouse. Last year, I was duck hunting, and ran into a pair of grouse. Both were wingshot using 3 inch #2 steel - no problemo...

I'm thinking # 6 as well. I did buy a half a flat of 7.5 and half a flat of 8.

Cosmic - I do hope to make a case last awhile. I figure a case should last 2-4 years.
If I want to shoot a lot Ill stick to .177 pellets or 22LR. I don't want to spend lots of money on ammunition.
U didn't find #4 was to heavy for rabbits and squirrels ?

I can see a flat lasting a few years for hunting only, but if a flat of target loads last a few years, you will never be very good at wingshooting.:)

If you want to ever be good at wingshooting, you need to shoot moving targets with a shotgun, on a regular basis, and that does cost money.

Challenger trap load at cabelas is on sale for 6.99$ for 25 ,free shipping with 99$ purchase , 7.5,8 and 9 shot

I don't take breaks from bein cheap, more money in my pocket the better lol
But I understand ur point

What's better for small game 4,5, or 6 shot?( does 5 shot exist)
I Need a case of this and I'm set.
It seems like 4-6 shot is harder to find for around $80 a case of 250. Is it around ?

Shoot your 308 yet? or your 64 since it got back from replacement?

You have more money in your pocket if you don't shoot *WINK*

Yea yea I shot the 308 and the 22 . Opening the cottage soon and shooting /hunting will be more often. Lots of crown land up there . Neighbours are going to hate me.

Just be aware.
High velocity, 1400 fps, 1 1/8 oz. trap load recoil in a 7.5 lb. gun is 28.4 foot pounds
Handicap velocity trap loads at 1200 fps, recoil in a 7.5 lb. gun is 21.6 foot pounds.
These high velocity cartridges are more like heavy hunting loads. They will not help your trap scores.

+1. After 300 rounds of the high recoil ammo you'll probably lose more targets due to recoil fatigue.

The Cabela's ad is confusing. It says they are 1 ounce loads at 1,400fps. AFAIK, the only load Challenger makes at that velocity is their 24gm International load.

There's nothing like what Cabelas is offering listed on the Challenger website.

Not so sure that Cabela's will sell Handicap at the sale price of high velocity this time. The last time they had the high velocity on sale, it was only the high velocity shells in Saskatoon.

I'm not heading back to the local Cabela's soon, but everytime Challenger target is on sale the Handicap is lumped in too.

I have shot those High Velocity loads, they are indeed 1 oz at 1400 fps. Challenger's website doesn't list a lot of loads they sell.
