If done properly, yes, but difficult to do. I have a Win 70 that takes AI mags and the previous owner had it worked on by 2 of the best smith's in the west. The mags are all modified with additional metal on the tang that forces them up further into the action along with other tweeks. As w
ell, I have a little plastic piece I slide into the mag when loading so the rounds sit about 7 mm forward of the back of the magazine. Works great as long as you are just doing stationery shooting and don't jar the mags
