6 Br Norma in a Rem 700 with AI mag

If done properly, yes, but difficult to do. I have a Win 70 that takes AI mags and the previous owner had it worked on by 2 of the best smith's in the west. The mags are all modified with additional metal on the tang that forces them up further into the action along with other tweeks. As well, I have a little plastic piece I slide into the mag when loading so the rounds sit about 7 mm forward of the back of the magazine. Works great as long as you are just doing stationery shooting and don't jar the mags.

Having said that, my 6.5x47L feeds better.

thank you for your input

This might be a little esoteric, but does anyone know how the magazines work in the Gruning and Bleiker CISM rifles? There must be some way to get them to feed reliably in a 700 action.

6br and 22br's don't feed well at all out of most actions, I have an older parker hale [comercial mauser 98] that I made into a 22br some years ago it is a controled round feed and will pick up the br case , but I need to stack them in the mag at the front otherwise they will nose dive.
Imo br's work best with followers but I know some guys are getting them to feed with the right mods maybe a quick google search might turn up some new info.

How to get 6mm BR to feed reliably from an AI magazine? Select another smooth feeding 6mm cartridge!
  • 243 Win
  • 6XC Norma
  • 6x47mm Lapua
  • 6mm Swiss match (this cartridge is a smooth feeding extended 6mm BR)

If you're willing to shoot 6.5mm bullets instead:
  • 260 Rem
  • 6.5x47mm Lapua
  • 6.5 Creedmore

I'm currently shooting a 6x47mm Lapua Remington 700 action in AICS stage 2.0 stock but 6.5x47 Lapua might have been a better choice.

got a Bleiker in 6Br....Magazines are quite different .....fitting them would be quite a challenge

And ...the reason that I would like to stick with 6 BR.....I'm trying to narrow my caliber selection..
