Silverback was gracious enough to loan me his Gevarm Deluxe model 22 rifle.
For those of you not in the know, this is one of the few 22 semi auto rifles to fire from an open bolt position.
Loaded up some 60 grain Aquillas, in the 8 shot magazine, and a target at 25 yards using open sights.

Rifle shot from the bench, and it became obvious that the bullets were pretty much high and right. Tried a compensated sight picture, and got two really obvious keyholes on the target board.

Functioning was better than the Ruger 10/22 were used last week, but still one in every 4 to 5 shots the stubby little empty often was jammed between the bolt and the breech face.

PS, They still smell like mexican burrito farts!

Cheers....

As I have a decent desire for these 60-grain rounds, I'm curious about your firing experiences. Might I ask how loud they were? Also, did the extra bullet-weight contribute to any noticeably different marks on the backstop/board? Finally, where did you purchase them?

Thanks in advance.

As for report I would say equal to any standard 22 target ammo.
The keyholing was the only indication of a difference in bullet design.

We have yet to find a "regular" 22 rifle,
(and we will try a few 22 LR pistols too)
that will group them okay, other than the 10/22 deluxe rifle of Silverback's. Even then it was about a loonie sized group at 25 yards roughly.

We tried them in my vintage 22 Mauser rifle and groups were laughable at the same distance, and much keyholing.

From what I have read, I believe the remington nylon 66's and clones will shoot them well since they have a 1:9 twist rate. I have a 66 but don't have access to the 60 grn'ers.
