So after months... I went to the range to try those Lapua 105's...
Powder is Varget, bullet seated .010 off the lands.
I did a couple loads of varget, 3 rounds of each and a couple more to sight the scope and to break-in the barrel.
Loads :
A: 29.0 gr
B: 29.2 gr
C: 29.4 gr
D: 29.6 gr
E: 29.8 gr
F: 30.0 gr
H: 30.2 gr
I: 30.4 gr
3 rounds and the scope was almost bullseye.
First 2 loads ( A: 29.0 gr and C: 29.4 gr ) were horrible ! The point of impact was 3 inch to the right.
Then I re-sighted the scope and its started to group well with heavier loads.
Best group was the last one I shot with the 30.4 gr, load *I*
The flyer with the F load ( 30 gr ) is probably me.
My guess is that the new barrel was causing the bad groups, what you guys think ?
The B load ( 29.2 gr ) grouped better than than A and C so that's why I think the barrel was still in *break-in mode* for the first shots...
Do you think I should go higher than 30.4 gr ?
Here's the results :
