6br?

A little off topic, but have you tested D8208 in your 223? I’ve been experimenting with it and so far I’m quite pleased.
I’ve only tested up to 68gn projectiles with excellent results. It uses a reduced powder charge over Varget and leaves lots of room in the case.

I've run thousands of 75gr BTHPs with D8208BR in my .223 trainer barrel. It's definitely faster than IMR8208XBR but it gives me good speed and accuracy. 22.7gr in Rem cases with Hornady 75gr BTHPs loaded at 1.950" BTO (too long for AR mags) gives me 2925ish fps out of a 26" pipe. Same speed I get with 25.0gr of Varget. I couldn't get the same speed in a .308 without pressure with the D8208BR that I could with Varget though.

For the 223/90, my powder was IMR4007SSC (what I used in that video).. If you have some old stuff, dump it. The reason it was recalled is it will self destruct, leaving a heavily corrosive effect on brass, bullet, powder measure, etc.

It was my dream powder but unstable ... wish they would figure out how to reformulate.

Thx Jerry. I'll check the bins. - dan

I shoot the 6 BR in Benchrest score & group. 100/200 meters. Why shoot the BR ? It is more accurate than other caliber. It is in the same league as the 6 PPC, without the 6 PPC case forming - neck turning and specialty bullets to get it to max performances.

A no neck turn 6 BR, Varget - R15 and Berger bullets in a good gun, will beat almost anything on your local range and more.
The 6 BR has won everything on the book up to 600 yards. Match winning load are out there. It is a proven - match round, easy to tune. Brass last almost forever.
.
But - I will change to 30BR, as soon Jerry get me my barrel : lol !

The only reason of the change is the 30 BR bigger ´s holes, an advantage I cannot go without. Changed my 6 BR barrel last year - 6800 rounds, could not get by CBTO were I wanted - throat was eroded to that point.

I had a 6.5 creed and got rid of it for longer range. It is a jack of all trade - master of none.

For long range, I use a 6.5/284 more velocity - flatter trajectory. Barrel life - no matter what is said about that caliber - I get 1800- 2000 rounds about the same as the 6 mm Creed. Next barrel might be a .284 on this one.

My next ground up build will be in 6 mm Dasher or GT or ..maybe a .30 Major..
