Not sure if this has been done, but I just thought we could start a thread where there should be no fighting and lots of info, could be turned into a Sticky. Feel free to attach photos of rifle aswell,, I know that has been done before, but there is a lot to know about this amazing little cartridge.

Here are a couple groups that my two 6BR's shot while testing loads.

Varget or RL15. Berger 105 hunting/match. get it going 2850-2900 and stick it in the rifling 10-20 thou.

Powder amounts are velocity dependent and every gun/powder lot is different.

CCI 450 or BR4.

The last 600 rounds have been 31.4gn VV N140, Berger 108BT, 2.389 OAL, CCI450.

For summer I have begun to load 31.2gn VV N140, Berger 108BT, 2.391 OAL, BR4.

These are Moly Bullets in a 30" Moly coated barrel. I would reduce the load by at least 1.0gn if not coating bullets.

Load 1:
31.2gr Varget, CCI 450, 105 Berger (Old ones) jammed .018

Load 2:
30.7gr Varget, CCI BR4, 107 Sierras at the lands.

Loads are for 2 different guns but load 1 shoots well in both....haven't tried the other way around.

Both are Krieger barrels.

The 1st load works in 2 other guns that I know of as well.

I thought there was a reloading forum but this but.....
anyways
30.0 gr of RE 17 pushing 105 lapuas

Mike, thanks for sharing this load, I meant to ask how much of the 17 you were using. I have a few boxes of Lapua bullets that I haven't been able to get to shoot so I might give your load a try as I have a bunch of RL17 in the cupboard.

Interesting that so many guys are shooting big heavy VLD's.

The 6BR was designed as an easier to live with version of the 6PPC. Both were originally meant to use 69gr match bullets.

While the 6BR certainly has shown a lot of promise at longer ranges I suspect most people use this cartridge at shorter distances. So why use the big heavy bullets?

Personally I use my BR for turning gophers into pink mist and the 70gr Ballistic Tip works really well for that.

I have been using Varget but it is somewhat difficult to come by these days so I switched to H322 because it is supposed to be THE powder for smaller benchrest style cases.

Actually, it (The 6mmBR Norma) was "designed" for European 300M ISSF competition as a *slightly* longer version the 6mmBR Remington.

Big heavy bullets are not needed for short range, and I agree with you that they make EXCELLENT varmint cartridges (3500 fps with light bullets).

I use mine for 300-1000M F-Class competition and I need all the BC I can get. (actually... I am getting sucked in by the need to build a bigger, better mouse trap and have collaborated with Mick McPhee on the design of the "240 Mickham" for 115 bullets... reamer ordered this week)
