That is the nicest Savage I have seen.

I have a similar stock on my 7mmRM in orange instead of purple, excellent choice.

I am really interested on how well it shoots.

That stock is really nice. I have not seen a laminate that I found that nice since Ian posted his Carl Bernosky stocked, hand gunned actioned, custom rifle. I think cynanide did the finishing on that, but I'm possibly making it up.

I have a Sharp Shooter Supply LVT almost on its way as we speak. Ordered early December 2009. Originally gonna be 8 weeks. Called today, SSS are just waiting to finish a few more stocks and then it will be shipped to Canada. 3 to 4 weeks Lisa said. :):):)

Yes I put the automotive clear on Ian's Bernosky stocked rifle.....you know....if you like PINK....it's a nice stock. :pirate:

Indeed CyaN1de did vigorously polish my pink stock, and a damned fine job he did of it too. I had to sleep afterwards. I have tried to tell him that no means no, but I felt sorry for him. People like Richard are born the way they are...they can't help it, and besides... I liked it.. FYI, It's PSYCHEDELLIC laminate... not pink :)

I definitely recommend one of his stock rubbings.

Noob question time:

Are 6mmbr rifles usually built with long, or short actions?

Thanks!

Left, the 6BR (105 gn. bullet) the 6mm Swiss Match (105 gn bullet) the new Lapua 6.5x47 (123gn bullet) and for comparison, the .308Win

308 is the biggest of this group and it is short action too. 6mmBR is a very short case. It is extremely efficient tho. It is not big deal to send a 105g bullet over 2900 fps. I am sure guys push it even harder than that. And that is only with 30 or so grains of powder!!! It takes a 308 45ish grains to do similar velocities. Even a 243 shooting the exact same bullet needs between 40-44 grains to get those velocities. Big recoil, same velocity, no thanks, I choose life.

I am also glad to hear that SSS is shipping to Canada again, I was pretty disappointed when I heard they stopped.

Here is a pic of my SSS stock.

Magnum,
I'm not sure if they are shipping again regularly. I believe these are orders that were promised and were held up at the border. Although it sounds like they are trying to fit in as many stocks as they can with whichever broker they are using to ship this lot to Canada. I know your aware of how long you can wait for one of their stocks without these additional problems.

I have not had any conversations with Lisa regarding SSS getting their paper work in order to ship to Canada on a regular basis. I have seen that mentioned on this forum. I have only been informed that when they have enough stocks ready they will be shipping through a third party. 3 to 4 weeks time apparently. :)
Those LVTs are really nice stocks and I look forward to receiving mine. But when 8 weeks turns into 9 months and counting one has to wonder a little. :D
The irony is that the day after I made my order with credit card I discovered that Robertson Composites was 10 minutes from my place of work.

Cool thanks, but if the 6mmbr is really good, how does the 6mm Swiss match compare given that it is the same bullet?

Thanks!
