I have received one of these rifles and have been doing some research on the history and conversion. Mine is a german I guess k98, it is stamped with 43 the date and dyf ? as well the 7.62. The left side has the serial number that matches the bolt(but that's it all other numbers don't match) only the right wing is showing and the other part grounded off and star of David and something inside of the star. Can anyone tell me about the two markings. The barrel has a dot right near the receiver ring on top which I believe is a index mark, "N,, mark which I believe is hebrew?, if someone can confirm, 7.62 and a rectangular oval and with marks so small I can't make out. Any feed back would be get and I realalize this is a old thread. The butt does have 7.62 notch in it.
Also is anyone currently shooting one of these rifles with 308 Winchester ammo verses using 7.62.
The rifle has been used, as it is pretty beat up but the barrel looks good and bore is shiny.
I saw on collectors source one of these rifles for $900 plus dollars, are they worth that much?
Thank you
