My dad has a few hundred 7.62 milsurp rounds lying around and im using them for practice in my rem 700 (308). A guy at the range told me to stop doing it because the hairlike difference in cartridge dimensions might cause problems such as an exploding rifle. Ive been told to avoid doing something similar with 556 and 223 because the NATO rounds are loaded to a higher pressure compared to its commerical counterpart. Should i be concerned?
I did some googling last night and the guys said its OK because 7.62 NATO is loaded to a lesser pressure compared to commerical 308. Nothing in regards to cartridge dimensions was mentioned.
Whats your take on this?
