Hey anybody know where the best place (and price) to get non corrosive 7.62 ammo in vancouver? I know some places advertise that its non corrosive when it in fact is corrosive. Getting tired of cleaning my sks and want to use non corrosive on my vz. Thanks in advance.

Try Reliable...it's where I buy MFS non-corrosive...just wait till next week before you go, I'm going there today and want to make sure they have stock for myself ; )

Barely...corrosive just needs some boiling water down the bore and gas system shortly after shooting...same day is best. That's it, otherwise just regular cleaning. I shoot non-corrosive cause I'm a little lazy and sometimes don't feel like cleaning same day, so I pay a premium for the convenience. Corrosive is not a big deal as long as you are somewhat diligent with your cleaning routine....although if the UN has it's way watch corrosive surplus become a collectors item and 3x the price of new manufacture lol

I take maybe 15min longer but I'm pretty anal and also take apart the bolt, clean all the small parts with hot water and detergents, rinse, re-soak in boiling water, towel off and allow to dry (hot metal dries quick) while I clean out the bore. That adds 5min and change. My only beef with corrosive is that it has to get done when I get back from the range (which is usually around 11-11:30), when I REALLY don't feel like cleaning rifles and often leave the rifle that shoots non-corrosive for the next day. In some cases, pretty anal can save you a finger or two

Would you guys consider MFS ammo as surplus? Its a little more than the norinco stuff but its still cheap compared to premium ammo. I would be buying MFS once norinco non corrosive runs out.

I've used MFS and to me, at least, it seems they're selling non-corrosive military surplus - perhaps later manufacture than the corrosive stuff? Either way, all the stuff I've used from them has been non-corrosive. Actually, apart from their 5.56, they're pretty good value for the money in any calibre they make, I've used the 9mm too and it's great for days when you're short for time and don't want to pick up your brass.

What is "dead zombies"? Sorry for all the Q's just trying to learn......

Thanks,
Nvm, i found them on web. They are close to vancouver too. So is that Norc 762 non corrosive good? Steal case so im not sure what the difference is. Seems cheap enough and might be better than all the extra cleaning with that surplus.

Steel case is fine... Can't (easily) reload the surplus anyway, and it's hardly worth it considering how cheap 7.62x39 is anyway. Norc shoots as well as any of it... I picked up a case of "non-corrosive" Chinese milsurp from a non-site supporting shop on Burrard. I treat it as corrosive though, as there have been many reports of evidence of corrosive damage following use... Caveat emptor...

Yeah thats where I bought my 'non corrosive' and it was definately corrosive. Now I do the hot water clean and it works like a charm on my SKS. Im reluctant to use that ammo in my VZ though thats why I was asking for a place to buy non corrosive.

Are you saying the norc non corrosive is actually corrosive?

The Norinco 7.62x39 in boxes marked "non-corrosive" is NC. Can Ammo was selling it a while back. The stuff the others are referring to bought at the dealer on Brrard is Chinese Surplus marked as "non-corrosive"...but debatable as to being NC. Apparently, there may be both corrosive and non in the same batch...
