Hello fellow gun owners.
I am a big fan of 7.62x25 round and constantly looking for ideas and actual 7.62x25 conversions made by fellow enthusiasts. I open this thread to collect, share and exchange ideas on converting modern firearms into this round. This thread is not intended to compare it to other calibers. Just for actual conversions please.
So far I managed to convert Norinco NP29 to 7.62x25 by using a 6" barrel manufactured by J&G sales (https://www.jgsales.com/7.62x25-tokarev-barrel-kit,-6-inch,-for-1911-wilson,-kimber,-springfield-in-9mm-or-38super.-new,-by-j-g-sales.-p-6472.html?products_id=6472)
I had to make a frame cut for Nowlin system, fit the barrel and used a compensator to hide the barrel lenth . I used Mec-Gar (MG-CGOV38B) 38 super mag to feed the gun. I can fit 7 rounds of unmodified ammo in this model. I am still looking for other mags to see if I can fit more.
It turned out to be a very reliable and accurate shooter. I went through a 100 rounds of Russian surplus ammo with only one light strike. Absolutely love the set up. The only thing that annoys me is the mag reloading routine. Hard on fingers.
Here is an older picture. I will upload a newer version soon
The next project I am thinking about is to make a carbine in 7.62x25 that will use my 1911 mags. After lots of research I decided to use JRC (Just Right Carbine) as a base and make a custom barrel. I am thinking of using this "30 Carbine Barrel Blank" from Trade Ex as a base. https://www.tradeexcanada.com/content/30-carbine-barrel-blank-4-grove-1-16-rh-twist-4140-htsr
Has anyone performed a similar conversion? What do you think about JRC conversion? Any better non restricted takedown options I missed?
Anyone interested?
