Looking for a plinker bolt action in 7.62x39.What are my options?I know Norinco made a cheap one and also CZ which is way more than I want to spend.Does H&R make one or possibly Savage?

If you want a plinker and not a hunting rifle, then get an SKS.....

If you want a serious hunting rifle in the x39, then the CZ you mentioned is a good option as well as the Ruger compact and the Howa mini.......

Funny I put a WTB a CZ 527 add on EE recently. Only issue is that I can't see putting Czech surplus through it with a true wood stock and knowing how to clean corrosive.

Probably will have to get into reloading if I do get it. Sigh....

I have lots of guns VIC....... but way less than I had a couple of years ago.... my collection is now much more focused, and something I take pride in.... it has direction and purpose....

Reloading is not a burden......

If cash was limited, like it was in my past, I would rather have 3 rifles I was reloading for, then have 30 and rely on factory ammo.....

Just one guy's perspective......

Plus, as a bonus, you get to revive cartridges that should have never gone away from mainstream like the .257 Roberts and the .35 Whelen......

Handled a x39 CZ 527 in a store today. If I had an extra grand in the pocket would have walked out with it. Has a few short comings but what a great little rifle. Want to handle the Howa Mini first though before committing to one or the other.

I'd say 80% of the ammo I've put through mine was surplus corrosive ammo (cz527). The bolt Dissammbles in seconds without tools. A spray of g96 down the barrel and on the bolt parts. Bore snake (or whichever method you like) and wipe off the parts. Reapply a bit of oil and it's good. To the OP if you like a light handy carbine with perhaps the nicest iron sights I've used I'd go cz. If you put surplus through it it will almost pay for itself. Lol. "Blue lock tite the bottom action screw"...
To add, I enjoyed the 527 carabine so much I bought the 527 varmint(.223)

TENDA has a sale on the CZ 527 in 762x39 right now $859.99 plus tax(es) and free shipping.... just not sure if there's any left

CZ is on sale at Tenda right now 859 I think. Would be fun to have one but my safe is full at the moment maybe one day. I'm flush with 39mm for one and as such would make sense for me. Possibly would have to explore traders for SVTs/SKS/Mosins and k98.
