7.62x39 Bushmaster ACR

It's so front heavy it takes the fun out of shooting. My SVT 40 is less front heavy and more fun to shoot. Even with a lighter handguard, this rifle is still way too long for me. Ill stick to my Tavor for CQB type weapon.

Im looking at scopes right now and decided I will go with higher magnification. No need to drop big money on 1-6 or 2.5-10 for a rifle that I will never use up close. So a normal 4-16 scopes should do.

Cadex was a dream to shoot today. Got some nice groups, My Best was 0.625 at 100 with 168gr matchkings
SKS-D was a blast, But 5 rounds is so ghay. and those Magpul AK mags are a PITA to load. More fitting is required.
Rasheed was a blast but finicky as hell, and its super accurate,
My face hurt from my Vz folding stock... lol

fired a 500 magnum and a 460 performance center. almost blew a load... lol...

Need to buy a Bradley cheek rest for my SVT40

i have the plastic handguard, and yes ok its a heavy rifle but with a light optic its manageable.

i never really liked the look of the enhanced handguard

Hold on to your Elcan a little longer, and try a different hand gaurd. Im positive you will love that combo! CQB - no, but fighting rifle - yes.

Leave the DMR role to the Modern Hunters and M14's!

x2.

How many rounds have you put through the Tav this year? If it's in the high hundreds / low thousands that will be the answer. (Its like going from a sports car to an SUV in drive's, it just what you get use to.)

Keep going with it, make a call after 500 rounds min.

Christopher.

What ? My DMR isnt built yet as im still waiting for parts. So figured I would give it a try anyways shooting offhand.

What? Which handguard did yours come with and what "different" one did you put on?
Too long? What did you expect from a rifle like this?
What parts are you waiting for that's going to change it into a DMR? All the PRS stock is going to do is make it heavier.
Do you have a NR barrel in it now? If you want a NR fighting rifle you need a barrel like my first NR barrel, it was a very light profile Herron barrel but I think it was too light, I couldn't find a factory or handload that would shoot better than 1.5moa from it. The Questar stainless barrel I have in it now is a little heavier but shoots much better.
I'm surprised you weren't expecting a nose heavy rifle, haven't you read the ACR posts? Everyone complains it's heavy, that's what you get with piston operated rifles with heavy non restricted length barrels.
I wouldn't want to do a carbine course with it but I've carried mine on a sling in the bush all day before and it's not that bad.

My ACR with SS barrels are beasts offhand. I can shoot about 15 rounds before my arms give out.

But atleast they're accurate :)

My friend just received his herron conversion with built in three prong flash hider and it's noticeably lighter and he went with a "government M4 style" profile.

There was some early development of just a barrel locking ring that does away with the quick disconnect system, but it's been shelved now.

Yeah, going from the Cadex Lite to the ACR is going to result in a bit of a let down, especially since your ACR isn't where you want it to be. I've been really enjoying my bolt guns the last few years so when I got my ACR, I told myself not to hold it to the same standard. Instead, I took my ACR out with a couple of ARs and though it didn't group as well as my IUR, I still had fun with it. The barrel was loose that day and I didn't know how to tighten it up till I got home and did a little research. I'm sure its fine and I'm looking forward to taking it out again. I had a 2 MOA Aimpoint PRO with an Eotech magnifier that day, so it grouped as well as it could with those optics. I'm betting the groups would be smaller if I had more magnification, a finer reticle, and match ammo.

I dunno guys, I've been dry firing/handling my factory ACR for a couple weeks now, and while I can feel the point of balance is a little forward it doesn't seem that bad.
Admittedly, I'm really out of shape...time to hit the lats, shoulders and triceps!

how do you tighten the barrel, sometimes mine feels a little loose

What do you mean sometimes? It's either loose or it's not.
Remove your forend, fold down the handle (not far enough to depress the spring loaded ratchet thingy) turn clockwise till it won't turn anymore. If you hear clicks it was loose, if not you were simply shooting like crap that day and you need to come up with another excuse for your bad groups.

As a side note, when removing the barrel fold the handle down all the way so it releases the ratchet or you'll round off the teeth and it will eventually start to come loose while shooting (I've seen an ACR that was like that).
You can remove the barrel for cleaning or for any reason without loss of zero, I do it all the time and never need to adjust the scope to get back on target.

Well settle don this scope, SIH TAC 4-12x40 HHR , A far cry from what I wanted to put on this rifle, But CanAms boxing day sale will cost me 1500$ lol... and ammo is more important at this time.

I resolved the wobbling barrel issue by doing mostly that, but I didn't hear clicks. I turned it clockwise only a tiny bit and it was already tight. I've never actually removed the barrel completely, but it's good to hear from guys with more experience that it won't lose zero.
