7.62x39

One of the managers at a local range. It was brought up as any type of steel is prohibited on this particular range. The reason given is that it is prohibited by the CFO on all ranges in AB.

I don't know if it's true or not. But either why I can't use steel core on my range. So I am still in the market for reasonably priced non steel core ammo.

Thanks

Ranges are free to make their own internal rules, If the range is indoor or using a Steel trap a the receiving end the owners may insist on non-steel ammo for longevity of their range. Outdoors shooting into dirt berms/backstops should make little difference. I was surprised to hear that when doing my safety at my current range the Ontario CFO had written off the use of Rocket Launchers. I did not consider even owning one a possibility, and certainly would have liked to have been there on Rocket Launcher day.... lol so sad.

Canadian tire Fredericton always has it at 225 for 1440.
I just made an ammo run yesterday bought 10 crates ( not all for me) $225+ tax and $5 gas for each just under $265 a crate all in comes to 18.4 cents per round! 10crates will easily fit in a Honda Civic and the mileage just bumped .15L/100k ish . The young fella said it was his largest ammo sale! Also got $90 CTC money, they had 6 crates left and he said they were going to put those back to reg price $274.99 which is still good!
They called it S&B , green crate28 71-947 7.62x39. Some say 11-71-81, anyone know where it was made?

Nice. You should have asked for a deal if you buy 10!!

How many rounds/crate?

They have 1200 green box packaged on stripper clips at a local CT for 279

Well I researched it and came up with an exact type of crates I got from CTC Freddy, same markings/ amount/ color, it is Chinese, not S&B as far as I can tell, I kinda thought it wasn't S&B as the shape of the crate is different! I already have some Chinese, newer production all goes bang great stuff for the price, should have taken all they had but the wife's Honda may not have made it back!

AHH the good old days! Guys on this site have been saying it for years, buy it cheap, stack it deep!
One good thing, once the price of SKS and x39 or x54 ammo get to a certain price, it will be almost as cheap to plink with .223 and buy AR15 or the NR versions!

S&B stands for Sellier & Bellot, a Czech ammo maker. Your ammo is Czechoslovakian, which means it comes on stripper clips!! Score!!!

Yea I know it stands for that and that is what the sign says but the markings and numbers on the crate, match Chinese crates I have seen, still a great deal but these I think are Chinese, I will open one to see for sure!
Edit: opened the crate, 2 galvanized metal containers with what I think is Chinese writing and numbers looks like the stuff was made in 71! I can imagine the smell when I open the containers!!
