Canada Post won't ship ammunition - try Canpar.

I ran the numbers for 10 parcels through Canpar and got these results(Not sure if I filled out their form correctly):

Re-ran the numbers, this seems more accurate as the website expects total weight for all 10 pieces, it doesn't do the math:

Shipment Rate
Weight 220.0 kg

Transit Time 4 day(s) *
Estimated Delivery Date 05/07/2015
Freight Charge $440.25
Net Charge $440.25
Estimated Fuel Surcharge Rate 12.8%
Estimated Fuel Surcharge $56.35

Looking at this from the outside guys. It looks like the 10 case orders are the way to go. Your saveings over 10 cases don't offset the risk/complications for the larger order!!!! Just sayin!!

Just did some math and if the Canpar shipping estimate is correct and factoring in taxes on 10 cases at $479/case the all-in price works out to 83cents per cartridge. Still better than anything else "off the shelf" here in Vancouver.

depends on the savings on shipping, I see canpar was $275 for 1 case and $520 for 10 cases, so there is a lot of savings there in volume

understandable.

I had a few people drop out so far and others reduce their amounts significantly because the savings are just not there and new production ammo is not that much more. I thought with 1 case being $549 and 10 cases being $479 a 50 case order would see another significant drop in price just like they did so I will be buying a lot less for myself now. It is still a savings, just not what some people (myself included) were expecting.

Hopefully the reduced shipping cost on a large order is significant

ya, when the original post went up with the wording that the ammo would be at prices folks could "afford" to shoot I admit I was curious.
I've almost put my name on the bc group buy a few times now this week but have stopped myself each time LOL
if this deal was 1000 round cases at this pricing I'd be in for 5 at least but watching this play out, I think I'm gonna hold off.
not complaining nor am I trying to bash marstar in any way, it is what it is and more for everyone else hehehe
besides, I'm way out in the sticks and ammo doesn't ship to PO Boxes

I am setting up a group buy in Calgary and I have emailed Marstar twice about shipping. No answer to me so far but another CGNer posted that the answer He got was : "Cannot give you Shipping quote as of yet because we don't know the exact size and weight of the crates. Will answer when the ammo is in stock".

Of the hundreds of request we received this happened ONCE, so lets make an effort to get over it....
DO NOT send PMs requested quotes, simply send them to billing@marstar.ca

- First of all, I wasn't complaining about the delay to get back to me, just answering another member's question...... so nothing to get over it so far.

- Second, I didn't send PM's but emails; once to "sales@marstar.ca" and the second to "john@marstar.ca"; like you requested because me and other were not successful with "shipping@marstar.ca"..... still nothing to get over on my end.

- Third, I will resend another email to "billing@marstar.ca" for the group buy that I am trying to set up here...... and if I have no answers within a week, "THEN I'LL HAVE SOME STUFF TO GET OVER WITH"

Email sent to billing@marstar.ca for shipping quote for 24 cases to Calgary, T2Z 0X4

I forwarded mine to the third address given today as well

Sounds like it shoots well. $0.86 per round in store for a single case, or $0.90+/- per round shipped, and I may or may not be able to reload the brass?
Damn we picked an expensive caliber to fall in love with! :)

ALTHOUGH this will give you an idea of the charges, remember Marstar has a volume commercial account, should be much lower....

I SAY AGAIN, ask arstar for th eshipping quote, we have a high volume commercial account.... The rates we get should be much lower

I'm still waiting on a shipping quote for 10 cases to my door in Vancouver.

If there are minimal cost savings for the bulk shipping of a larger group buy, then I'd prefer to pay the $100 extra for my order of 10 cases($479/case for 10 rather than $469/case as part of a group buy for 50) and know that I can have my 10 items delivered to my door and not have to mess around with the logistics of paying through a 3rd party, organizing a pickup time from the drop ship destination, having to load 220kg of parcels into and out of my vehicle, etc.

Anyway, I went to the Canada post website and for a single, regular parcel delivery of a 22kg (15x28x53cm) item from Marstar to my postal code the price for that single parcel came out to ~$52(inc tax). I'm still waiting on a shipping quote from Marstar for 10 cases to my door and if the cost of shipping 10 to my door is a lot more than pooling my cash in with the bulk group buy, I'll lump my order in with the group buy(assuming y'all still want me to do that).

LET US REPEAT FOR THE 100000000000000000000th TIME, ONE CANNOT SHIP AMMO VIA CANADA POST IT IS ILLEGAL

Wow, so much attitude in this thread. I'd like to say thanks to John at Marstar for bringing this into Canada. I am co-ordinating a Toronto buy group and we have a combined order for 20 cases so far.
I'm not freaking out about shipping, asking you to dismantle cases, sort by primer or any other sillyness. I'm happy with your offering as is and await news that it's available.

I understand the hype and why this is popular. But abusing the seller with what you think is the way he should sell it only aggravates things.

Ian.
