7.62X54R new brass?

Norma & Lapua make it, but it ain't cheap and not easy to find. You can buy some Igman and reload it after you fire it. www.districorp.ca sells it, and's it's about the same price for the loaded ammo as it would be for the Norma or Lapua brass.....

I am looking at bringing in some brass from the US. www.Grafs.com is having brass made under their headstamp in a lot of military calibers. This is a joint venture with Hornady and it is the same factory that is making the Hornady brass. I believe the the brass is made by Prvi Partisan.

Cost is US$ 28.99/100 or US$ 260.91/1000

"Graf/Hornady line now includes the 6.5x50 Jap, 6.5x52 Carcano, 7.5x55 Swiss, 7.65x53 Argentine, 7.7x58 Jap, 8x56R Hungarian Mannlicher, 7.62 Nagant, 9mm Steyr, and .455 Webley MKII" among others.

I have found the 7.5 French Graf cases to be of poor manufacture. They seem to be handling repeat firings OK, but many flash holes are woefully off center and the base dimensions are a few thou over SAAMI, so running the brass through Lee or RCBS dies will leave an annular ring of brass around the base where the die stops, making the cases look like belted magnums. It's doesn't affect their use, but is indicative of a poor design on Graf's part.

I've also used their 8x56 Steyr brass and have the same overall impression - doesn't meet Hornady standards IMHO which is probably why they are not putting their own name on it. Lots of badly off-center flash holes.

I've not tried their 54R, but I do use the Igman brass and it seems to be quite good once reloaded - which is surprising considering how inconsistently it was loaded from the factory and the poor quality of the projectiles. Flash holes are sometimes off, but nowhere near as often as wit hthe Graf's brass I've tried.

I spoke with Grafs about a month ago and they were out of stock of 7.62x54R. A new shipment was expected in Oct.

Before I order any I will talk to them about the quality. I had seen a little bit of Graf Brass before and the quality was OK.

I think the Igman, Bell, and the latest incarnation of Prvi, are all made by the same company in Bosnia........
