The newest model sps does come with a jeweled bolt I saw a few today and that is what the dealer told me. New stock and jeweled bolt just as in the pic of Supercub. Anything else is older inventory.

I was just told by a fellow that all 700s now come with plastic floorplates and trigger guards.Has anyone bought a 700 recently? Is the floorplate and trigger assembly plastic,or is it still aluminum?

sorry to get off topic, but you 700 guys with scopes; do you find it hard to insert rounds into the mag without a detatchable one? Does the scope make it hard to get in there?

The scope gets in the way a bit but it is by no means difficult - takes me an extra split second.

yes, you can get a SPS stainless in 223 (also 204 ruger & 22-250 in the same class)

Is accuracy comparable to that of T3s or Savages ? Any parts that should be upgraded ? Trigger, stock, etc ? Havent handled one but looks like what I might need...

New trigger, new bedded stock, new barrel, scope and mounts. Hmmm, whats left?? It does have a good recoil pad :D :D

you can customize as much as you want, but its not *needed*. a SPS out of the box should shoot 1-1.5" 3 shot groups with factory ammo that it likes. Handloading should enable you to reduce group size up to 50%

bedding and trigger adjustments never hurt, on any gun

i started to stray off from the synthetics (though i do find them handsome) and into woods, but can't decide which wood looks the best. :D
