Rem 700 SPS rifles...

you can customize as much as you want, but its not *needed*. a SPS out of the box should shoot 1-1.5" 3 shot groups with factory ammo that it likes. Handloading should enable you to reduce group size up to 50%

bedding and trigger adjustments never hurt, on any gun

Betcha Remington wished they'd offered the SPS option long ago instead of going down the 710 road first... :p

I don't think anyone's said it, maybe it's common knowledge, but the BDL has a detachable mag, the SPS doesn't.

I got my BDL in 30 - 06 for $600 from Ellwood Eps right when the SPS's came out and the BDLs were discontinued.

First 3 shots at 100 yards were 3/8". It was a fluke, but it groups at an inch with cheap federals.

Wholesale Sports lists a blued SPS with DM as well as the blued and stainless BDLs.

.

not listed on Remingtons site, but they did make some camo stocked SPS DM with stainless actions and barrels. 30-06 and 300 win mag for sure

SIR has some, among other smaller gun shops

With all that added cost - why buy a Remington?

Most rifles (Remington included) are perfectly adequate for most hunting purposes directly from the factory. For 90% of the hunters, there is no need ot spend extra if they do not wish to.

However, many of us prefer to customize our rifles to our tastes, and increase the pwrformance of the rifle. (Some have different concepts about what increases the performance, but that is a different discussion)

It's just like guys buying aftermarket add ons for thier cars, bikes, boats or bar.;)

First of all there is nothing wrong with puch feeds, my Sako Trg-S is a push feed, so is Tikka..... I guess they are crappy by your view.

Exactly what rifles do you own since you are so vocal on your choices. Maybe you should own, handle, shoot rifles before you lay your opinion on them..

If you like trolling, you should take up fishing

Win/64 why don't you get some experience with different rifles, before you slam them.

didnt Winchester make a lever action called the 64?

and a person could take your user name as Win POST 64 ;)

Why yes, tod, what a very good point. There is no doubt that Winchester sure did make a Lever Action called the 64...

I believe it was made from sometime in the 30's until the late 60's or 70's.

Most of them were chambered in 30-30, IIRC. But there were other chamberings, too. Again, IIRC, as lever guns aren't my thing.:)

Welcome to Remington Country....

Have you ever used one???? Your comments suggest you never have...

I have owned Winchesters, Savages, Remingtons, Weatherby's, Sako's, Kimbers, Mausers, Husky's, Tikka's, Lee Enfields, Mosins and Rugers.

I have absolutely no loyalty to Remingtons over any other brand, but they are also very good rifles. The two nicest rifles have been the Sako's and Kimbers....

But I am not going to make comments on Brownings rifles as I have never owned or shot one, but I am sure they are also excellent rifles.

Which rifles do you own again?

I own about 25 rifles and shotguns these days, down form about 50-60 at one point.

I own:

1 Mdl 700LVSF in 223

1 Custom rifle built on a 700 Aciton, (Action is the only part of it that is Remington)

I used to own:

1 270 Mdl 700 Mtn Rifle.

That is it for Remington guns. As I said, I 'm not a Remmy fan. But I do know what a .270 Winchester is. :dancingbanana:

I have 5 Husqvarna's 3 Pre 64 model 70 Winchesters 2 Kimber 84m's and 3 Mauser 98 sporters,and 2-96 Sweedes I have owned Remington's in the past.They just didn't seem to have the "Soul" of the other guns listed.
