Has anyone seen either of these rifles in Canada yet? If so, how did they look/feel? How much were they?

I read on another forum that someone got an email from Wholesale Sports that stated the SPS Varmint was going for around $580ish, but there's nothing listed on their site yet.

I think those are the prices you might see down in the US. They will probably be a little higher up here. It will be interesting to see how they shoot, they are going with the pillar bedded Hogue Overmolded stock. I have no experience with them and I'm not sure how stiff they are.

the SPS Varmint is gonna be 549.95+GST in Canada....that what I pre-paid for it...
will be in Canada with next Rem shipping...
the info about Wholesale - I talked to them, they have it ordered, not more.

about SPS Tactic - special order only...

one of guys just posted a report....first 10 shots, and he got groups from .5 to less than 1MOA...
you can`t beat this for its money :)

That sounds like a bit too low for a Tactical/Varmint 700 rifle
It does seem like a low price, but remember they're in the cheaper SPS family. I haven't seen a Canadian price for the Tactical model yet...but it's going for well under $600 in the US just like the Varmint, so hopefully it's priced like the Varmint over here too.

Excellent! Even a little less than the price I saw quoted. If it shoots as good as reported by some, that's a sweet deal!

What did you order, pilgrim? I'd like to pick up a .204. Do you know the price on the Tactical?

A little more than first thought, but still reasonable. Was yours cheaper because you prepaid early???

I was shocked too....I have no idea why Wholesale charges another 70 bucks for the same rifle....:runaway:

Here's some more information on the 700 SPS and SPS Tactical. If you head over to Remington's premier dealer brochure (you can download it here: http://www.remington.com/pdfs/2007premierdealerbrochure.pdf ) you will get a look at the new 700 SPS Tactical. The new SPS Varmint rifle uses the same barreled action as the 700P and VS line of rifles, but the SPS Tactical is a little different. It has a 20″ barrel vs a 24" barrel for the SPS Varmint and instead of the flimsy and not so good injection molded stock of the Varmint version, it uses the Hogue overmolded stock. This is the same stock that is used on the FN PBR, in fact, this rifle looks to be aimed directly at the PBR in terms of competition. Also, IIRC, the finish is in flat black oxide and the trigger is a better model than the Varmint version :D

Ah ok...my mistake! I thought you had ordered from Wholesale. Good to know!

Going by the catalogs they both have the new "XMark Pro Trigger". You're right about the finish...black oxide of the Tactical, and matte blued on the Varmint.

Mmmm why can't I find any pics of
these rigs on Remingtons site. . .

Anyone here have any foto's ?
Like RifleDude posted, you have to download the .pdf catalogs. The Tactical is in the Premier Catalog posted above, and the Varmint is in the new 2007 Rifle Catalog.
