IMHO......this WholeSale is suck....I paid 550 for SPS Varmint at RussellSports...
in the USA SPS Varmint is priced at 460USD and SPS Tactical is priced at 500USD....
960 for SPS Tac - NO....better to get an LTR(has HS Stock and better trigger)......

for Jamie: the twist on SPS Varmint in .243 is 9 1/8" ........ :)

what???

in Ontario SPS Tactical is 699 and SPS Varmint is 659....
XCR is about 1400CnD

where?

I would have liked to see a 1/8 or 1/7.5 for the 115gr VLD's and DTAC's

I will never ever sell my LTR but I like the idea of a long barrel 6mm with a fast twist

what Twist is in the 243 Varmint? it might be a great rifle if the twist is fast enough

Jamie

According to the Remington catalog the 700 SPS Varmint in .243 has a RH 1-91/8" twist and has a 26" tube.

The .22-250 has a 1-14" RH twist (wish this was faster!)

.223 has standard 1-12" RH twist (1-9" would've been a lot better!)

.308 has standard 1-12" RH twist as well

___________________________________________________________

Remington 700 XCR Tactical Long Range

.223 5rd 26" bbl 1-9" RH twist

.308 4rd 26" bbl 1-12" RH twist

.300Win Mag 3rd 26" bbl 1-10" RH twist

There's nothing listed in the 2007 Remington catalog in terms of specs for 700 SPS Tactical

On their website Gobles has the Varmint listed for $636.50, and the tactical for $667.50.

The XCR tactical is listed at $1309.00 for comparison.

The 700 SPS Tactical is listed in the Premier Dealer Exclusive line-up brochure.
It can be found here:

Looks to be similar in specs to the LTR.

Cheers!

Yeah, saw that, and got it saved in pdf...however, couldn't find the actual specs in terms of barrel twist. I'm guessing it'll be the same as the SPS Varmint.

There's been talk that it will be the same as the LTR...no one knows for sure yet.

I would guess it would be 1/12 for the 308 but what's with the silver trigger and safety:puke:

I got this from SIR

"Thank you for your recent inquiry

RE: Remington's SPS's
We have stock coming in on the SPS Varmint series in what looks like everything but a .308 which should arrive near the end of March or early April

.204 Ruger Catalogue # 427552 $617.99
.223 Remington Catalogue # 427554 $617.99
.22-250 Catalogue # 427556 $617.99
.243 Win Catalogue # 427558 $617.99

As far as Tactical weapons we only SPECIAL ORDER them for military or police use, if you are an active member we would like to help you out.

If you wish to order one of these please call our toll free number 1-800-265-6245
or go to our web site www.sirmailorder.ca"

since when do I have to be an "active member" to get a tactical firearm?

This is utterly ridiculous.

I should have mentioned...I was referring to the .223, I hadn't heard anything about the .308, but you're right it should be the same.

No 17 fireball? Bummer!
If the fireball takes off like the .204, they'll probably put one out next year.

HOLY CR.......
the Remington bumped prices a lot.... :(
3 weeks ago I prepaid 550CnD for SPS Varmint...current price is 620CnD....
what is going on???????

could it be supply and demand?
Could well be...they're still a little hard to get ahold of up here. Prices seem to vary quite a lot from store to store as well....even more than they normally do.
