762/39 steelcase explosion

Ya i agree, theres lots of guys who assume and love to slag the guy who is just looking for help.Anyway the upper is in the hands of a very competent gunsmith, after i showed him the ruprured case, he replied, i will bet its not your headspace thats the issue, its the cheap ammo.He inspected the round for several minutes. He also shared that he has seen this type of rupture many times this summer and had to remove several stuck in the chamber. He pretty much told me i was wasting my money but i felt its worth the few dollars to check the headspace anyhow. The rifle was now extracting about 3 oclock and i never had a failure until the rupture.I had so many issues with FTE i almost gave up.After allot of research i decided to investigate more thoroughly.A slight grind to open the M4 feed ramps and a good polish stopped the FTE.No more scratches on the bullets and cycle was proper.Either way i wont be running anymore of this Chinese surplus. It could just be this ammo as i know guys who only shoot milsurp and never had an issue with ruptured cases.I will post next week after the headspace is checked .. Oh and thanks for all the input ( except the SLAGGERS,you know who you are). G

This caught my attention; How much metal did you remove, and exactly where?

looks like the sidewall of the case is unsupported.
how far into the chamber did you grind those feed ramps?

I WILL ASK WEASEL IF HE WILL HOST A PIC OF AN UNFIRED ROUND.IT HAPPENED TWICE WITH THIS SPECIFIC AMMO AND THE RIFLE IS AT THE GUNSMITHS TO GET LOOKED AT.AS FAR AS THE FEED RAMPS I BARELY TOUCHED THEM,AND SURELY NOT ENOUGH TO NOT HAVE THE CASE UNSUPPORTED. ALSO THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME BEFORE I TOUCHED THE FEED RAMPS,SO THAT PROVES ITS THE AMMO SO FAR.AS I MENTIONED EARLIER THE GUNSMITH SAID HE HAS SEEN THIS SAME RUPTURE THIS SUMMER SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE MILSURP AMMO..WHEN I HEAR BACK FROM HIME NEXT WEEK I WILL POST..Happy NY G

I feel the need to point out that the feed ramps on an AR are on the barrel extension only and not on the chamber. If you have a feed ramp ground into the actual chamber of your barrel it's toast. Get a new one.

Looks like a classic unsupported case head failure. Hopefully the gunsmith will get to the bottom of it and see what's up. I can't remember now, is this the only ammo you've used so far?
