Mine is the non-laminated, non-stainless version (don't think they make it anymore) and I've never had a complaint. Shoots like a Remington should. 1" with it's first box of Core-Lokt's, and I've never really deviated from that formula. Mine wears a 3-9x Monarch, and has taken a half dozen deer from 30 feet to well over 200 yards.
 
Well as for effect on animals.Cannot tell you how many. I have used this caliber since i was 19, I am 36 now, It has been used every season with great success as long as i hit my intended target., and my rifle does that well. Can have pass through shots well over 400 yards with bullet expansion. hard to beat a caliber you can load with bullets that are over .500 BC shoot flat and not punish the shooter.

I have made changes over the years and now it shoots well under 1/2 MOA at 100, we will see how it fairs out beyond the great 600 soon.

No need to fix something that isn't broke.
 
I switched over from my Remington model 700 BDL 30.06,To a Browning micro hunter 7mm-08 in 2007 after fracturing my wrist and lugging a full size rifle became a chore to carry all day.So after 22 year of shooting the '06 I made the switch and haven't gone back.
My wife has been hunting with her Remington model 7 7mm-08 since 1999 and I have taken it out on a few hunts.
The 7mm-08 is a carbine size,light recoil,accurate and deadly little package.

My wife really likes her Marlin XS7, and it shoots everything from 130 gr Speers, to 175 gr Hornadys very, very well. I like it too. :) She will be using it with 140 gr Matrix Bonded Cores for moose, caribou and bear this Fall.

Basically, the 7mm-08 is the great 7X57 in a new dress. It would be hard for it not to be popular.

I put a limbsaver on my Stevens 7mm-08 and the recoil is negligible. I added a Rifle Basix trigger and it consistently shoots 0.8" groups at 100 yards and 1.5" groups at 200 yards off a front rest with a 9x scope and factory ammo. It prefers winchester 140gr ballistic silvertips but every other factory ammo I've tried including 140gr federal fusions, TSX's, partitions or 150gr Speer hot cor, shoots almost as well.

I like it! Took a WT doe last year and hope to fill the freezer again this year.
 
If someone does not like recoil, they will like this round. There is a wide selection of rifles chambered in 7mm08. One can even pick up a 7mm08 in brownings lever action.

My dad picked up a 7mm08 in stevens 200 because he was tired of packing around his 7mm Mag in winchester model 70.

when you compare the amount of powder the 7 mag and 7mm08 use, it is difficult to not like the 7mm08. The 7mm08 is not too far on the heels of the 7 mag in downrange performance.

It seems people like to bash this round on CGN, but usually they have not seen it in action and are impressed when they do.

Use a good quality bullet, and know the rifles limits and your own.
 
It was my choice getting back into hunting after a long layoff. I have owned 30-06, 3- 270's a 243, a 338 and a 222(not a deer gun) It is not rocket science, neck a .308 down to 7mm and it will go faster and flatter. Got mine in Sako finnlight, nice light shooter. Check it out. Cheers
 
We sell to a lot of ladies (partially 'cuz _everyone_ hunts in Northern Ontario, not just the guys, and partially 'cuz we've got a lot of females behind the counter) and the 7mm-08 is definitely one of the go-to options for ladies who want a viable moose round that doesn't leave a bruise.

Lana's quite attached to 'her' stainless/synth Model 7 - it's technically her mom's (Jane's) but she's pretty much co-opted it. (Of course, 7-08s work just fine when it's a male pulling the trigger too.)
 
7-08

Easy to shoot, light to carry, great selection for reloads and hits like a ton of bricks. My 7-08 is the only gun in my cabinet that I will never sell ~ and that's saying something :D
 
i was thinking about getting one for my wife but dont know to much about them kinda looking for something that could go from deer to elk with out a problem how would it work
