It's just a bit slower than the 7mm STE (Shooting Times Easterner) that Layne Simpson dreamed up,which was a 307 (read , rimmed 308 case) necked to .284....and was also made to work in the Win 94/Marlin 336 lever rifles.
Nosler used to make a 120 grainer with a plastic flat point..I believe it was of the old Solid Base design,...the forerunner to the Ballistic Tip...
