Hi,

I am new to loading for the 7mm Rem Mag, and I am looking for accurate load suggestions for the 150 ttsx bullets. So far, I have tried this combo with RL 22, but the accuracy is not great. Any load or powder suggestions are appreciated,

thanks

How far off of the lands are you seating the 150TTSX? How much R-22 are you using? What did you use for a copper solvent to get rid of all copper fouling before trying the TTSX?

Maxx; I have always had the best success in the 7mm Rem Mag with 150 grain bullets using IMR 4831

But with 160 grainers, RL 22 has been superb.

As Stubble has said, clean thoroughly first. Seat those TTSX bullets .050" off the lands to start.

I would begin with 60.0 grains of IMR 4831, and work up in ½ grain increments carefully. My pet load is 65.0 grains...shoots awesome!

Regards, Dave.

I worked up from 64- 67 grains of rl22- I was .060 off the lands, and I cleaned this rifle with Wipe out before this shooting session. I was seeing a large spread of velocity with the same charge, up to 100fps. In the other 7mm RemMags that I have reloaded for, the accuracy was great with the rl 22 with 150 IB, and the average velocity was within 15 fps.

any help is appreciated. thanks

Thank you dave. I don't have 4831 in stock, I will have to find some. I have H4350. Thanks for the advice.,

What kind of velocity were you getting with 67gr of R-22? I have never loaded a 7mmremmag that hot with 150gr bullets. I usually top out at 66-67gr with 140gr bullets.

By the way, H4350 often works well with 140- 150gr bullets in a 7mmremmag.

Stubble; I had a 700 Classic in 7mm Rem Mag that would take 67 grains of Reloder 22 behind the 160 grain Partition. Velocity was 3090 avg for 5.

Thanks guys for all the help. I will let you know how I make out,

Stubble- velocity was 3150, but again the average fps was all over the place.

Do you guys have a preference on Fed 215 of CCI 250 primers?

Must be either a slow batch of R-22, or a large chamber. I usually get about 3050fps when I load the 160s for a friend, but with less powder.

I use the 215s exclusively with the larger capacity cartridges.

I had 66gr H4831 fed 215m 50 thou off and a bit under an inch for groups, this was the 150tsx not ttsx if that matters. This was the first load I tried in this rifle so maybe got lucky, good enough as Dad probably wont shoot much over 300yds. Have some 145lrx and 160 accubonds to try when these are used up.
Not sure how fast there going but recently got a chony so time to get serious.

I load 61gr/IMR 4350 and a 160gr Accu-Bond for 2920fps from a 26" Win 70 Classic.A meter of penetration on moose.Harold

I had great sucess with 62 grains of imr 4831 and 150 grain partitions in some cases but I'd consider that a max load in some guns.
In mine it was chronographed just shy of 3100 fps with partitions and federal cases.

I'd, personally, be wary of recommending it to someone as a start load.

Maybe so, but going from experience with at least 7 - 7mm Rem Mags, including one custom barrel with a nice SAAMI minimum chamber, I have yet to find high pressure signs at 62 grains with any 150 grain bullet. But, to be sure, I have changed the original posting to a 60.0 grain start load.

Dave.

I have an old Speer manual that lists 67 grns of H4831 behind a 160 Speer FBS bullet and I used this load for years in 3 different 7 RMs using a variety of 160 gn bullets from Sierra, Speer and Partitions. All 3 ran from 3050 fps to just over 3100 and brass loaded several times. Using W-W brass and CCI 250.
