How many own one of these big 7's??
[I know, I know, barrel burner, lol]
If you do, would you care to share what is working for you as to loads.
Data is not too plentiful, and I would like to gather a bit more info.
Thanks in advance, Eagleye.

Retumbo and heavy bullets are liked by many guys. I was reading on this earlier today and many different people are recommending the Retumbo loads. I shoot a .338 RUM and am experimenting with that powder right now. 7mm RUM is also high on my list of next rifles to own.

Just loaded up a bunch of 160 Partitions over Retumbo and Ramshot Magnum to try.
Started around 88 grains and working up in 1 grain increments.
Retumbo is bulkier than is Magnum, so fills the case more, a good thing IMHO.
I have plenty of slow burners at my disposal, including RL25, VV N170, Some H5010, etc.
Thanks guys.

The H5010 shot well in my 7Ultra, but produced slower velocities.

My rifle loves the H870! (yes, it is discontinued) but I have 8 pounds of it.

I havent tried H869 yet, but it should be great for it.

As for it being a barrel burner?......
Yep! Yep! Yep!

I havent shot mine in 4 years.
Why?
I had the honour to build this barrel from scratch, before the 7 Ultra was introduced by remington. A good friend of mine helped me do it.

In just 150 rounds, I have had over .045" throat erosion.

I havent been shooting it because I hope my son will want to try it when he gets older.
I may just rebarrel the rifle till then.

Man, does this cart. Hammer critters! WOW

I acquired this rifle in a trade. Throat is still quite short, so have to assume not many rounds. Looks good, and no roughness in throat can be felt with a bronze brush...all good signs.
I did get a bit of 1F brass from factory ammo with it, plus a bag of new.
The barrel is a custom SS, was told it came from Pac-Nor, but not sure when inspecting it whose it may be. [No idea who did the smithing as yet]
The chambering is well done, FL sizing fired brass is almost effortless, indicating a "smallish" chamber dimension.
It is on an Early Remington 700 Magnum Action. [still has the notch and a 5 digit serial number]
If I seat the 160 Partition to fit the magazine box, [3.668" col] I am exactly .018" off the lands.
If it shoots well, I will try the 150 Barnes TTSX
It is in an early 700 BDL stock with a fair amount of carry blemishes.
I will hang it into a brand new CDL stock if it shoots well.
Has a so-called "quiet" muzzle brake, but am machining a cap for it before I shoot it. [hate muzzle brakes!]
Regards, Eagleye.

My rifle liked IMR7828 behind a 140gr TSX. It produced about 3575fps out of a 26" Schneider barrel with a 1 in 10" twist. It never gained me enough over my 7mmSTW rifles to impress me.
