7mm STW?

"...could not locate 7mmstw brass..." It's one of those many cartridges that is the answer to an unasked question. The lads at Shooting Times gun rag had nothing else to do one day so they decided they'd invent something unnecessary.

Does any firearm manufacturer (i.e. Remington, Sako, Savage, etc.) make a 7mm STW or is it a gunsmith job at this point?
Here ya go, a Cooper model 56 in a 7mm STW, New Zealand Walnut, whatever you want on it. Sky is the limit and it will even kill mule deer.;) Buyer beware, these are no lightweight firearms, not for the faint hearted to carry.

Do you really think that nobody wanted .257 Weatherby velocity with 50% more bullet weight and correspondingly higher BCs? Is it your position that nobody ever wished they could take quarter mile shots without a rangefinder just by holding center? Nobody ever thought that 500 while still holding on hair would be cool? Nobody ever thought that a cartridge that with a bullet swap or two would do everything a .257 'Bee would do, then wander over and slap the .300s around? Nobody ever thought that a ton of energy delivered at 500 yards might be good for something? Maybe you even think that there aren't a ####load of Rem Mag shooters that would have been happier if they hadn't bought that chronograph.

You might need to talk to some different people before you decide what they asked for.

Meh, with modern optics it really doesn't offer up much over the 7RM...if anything in the 0-1000 yard world of big game hunting. It is fun to have fast cartridges though....no arguing there but their practicality is often more perceived than...well....practical. I agree it was a cartridge that filled no niche but we could say that of about 80% of them couldn't we. No need to justify buying new uber cartridges though...it's what keeps the business hot. Sadly, the 7STW like most cartridges that really can't find a niche has all but disappeared from mainstream gun offerings....likely testament to the fact that no one really asked for it.

Sunray doesn't know his a$$ form his elbow. All of his posts are complete udder crap. I wouldn't get to worked up over that loser.

I think Sunray is the answer to a question no one asked...

Sunray is the perfect example of fulfillment of that wise saying:

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool,
Than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

Eagleye.

I have this question that keeps popping into my head over and over and over ...... are sunray's parents related by any chance ? ....

if he is actually a "special needs " person I sincerely apologise .... but after almost a decade of hanging out here and nothing worthwhile has seemed to sink in .....

I custom one w/Savage 110 300win mag, Savage made this caliber 7mmSTW hard to find. At this time was easy to buy a blind mag from Savage and open the actionr this caliber. No case was made just neck down 8mmRem mag

Sunray … that loser.

Gentlemen, I do not know Sunray. But I am familiar with CGN’s ‘Policy for Harassment’, and if you read it carefully you will see that the above posts are clearly contrary to the policy.

We gain nothing from making posts aimed at humiliating, or making fun at, any member of this forum, irrespective of what we might think about his posts; but in doing so we lose a great deal. If you do not like what someone says, you do have the option of ignoring them or blocking them so that you cannot see their posts.

My 2 cents.

that is nice ...........

there is nothing I can say right now that can't be twisted and misquoted into " harassment " ........ i'll just say that some people need the silly smacked out of them .

to bring this thread back on track .

to the op , have you given any thought to a ruger #1 action to build your rifle ?

it would allow you to run a 30 or even a 32 inch barrel while still having the same overall length as a bolt action with a 26 inch barrel .

If you read some of his other 17000 posts you will see that none of them hold any information. I mean any information that is right that is. Its all mindless drivel to up his post count.

There's another fellow on here as well that it seems to like to hear his "internet voice"
28+ posts per day. How in hell could you possibly post that much drivel? Most posts are about 2-3 words.

At least Sunray gets a chuckle out of me. ;)

I don't care if someone chooses to waste their time posting "mindless drivel" - I just choose not to read it.

But what I do NOT want .. is to have some worthy contributor (who may not be aware of the rules) banned from this forum ..
.. because, in a moment of overreaction, they post something that a Forum Administrator deems harrassment.

It's not harassment to point out the truth. Sunray makes comments on a wide variety of topics, always negative, usually incorrect and often his advice is even dangerous.

He's an idiot.

And I'm well aware of CGN rules, don't worry. ;)
