Fixed it for you. Many years ago I shot a whitetail with my sks, it was DRT. just gotta put the RIGHT pill where it counts
Seems to me he used a 221FB for deer instead. The SKS cannot kill a deer. I know this because an expert on the intraweb tod me so.

Mexican match. Pull the FMJs, dump the powder from 10 of them into your scale pan. Use the avg, load 50 rounds with that avg and a decent soft point. Then you don't have to look for the brass. The Prvi stuff works fine on deer. I gave up trying to reload it cause its a hassle trying to find the empty brass in the snow.
Yeah. Forgot to mention that. I only use non-corrosive surplus.Good idea...just remember (not you per say but anyone who is "new") that is the the PRIMER that is corrosive is the surplus rounds, not the powder so a proper "anti corrosion" cleaning will still be required to do to the gun after use within a couple days.
Well I'm a little disappointed. When I read the heading I thought someone had built a 7X39 wildcat, but its just the same old 7.62X39 SKS. Anyway, Mbogo's CZ is the rifle I would own in 7.62X39, and yes it will kill deer. A fellow here killed his moose with a Ruger 7.62X39, and bang-flopped it at that. Still, the idea of that cartridge being necked down to .257", 264", .277" or .284" is interesting.
