Seeing as the subject has come up a number of times recently, I thought I'd take some time and announce the 7th Annual Double Gun Classic. The Classic has been scheduled for Saturday, June 10th at our usual location, the Oshawa Gun and Target Club. The scheduled time is from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm although I think being there a bit early or later makes no difference.

As in past years, we will have a skeet field reserved for our use while the event is on. And also as in past years we will be using the picnic table area under the roof as our main gathering area and display area for the guns.

Anyone with an interest in vintage and modern SxS (and cool O/U but there are hardly any of those Laugh2 ) should consider attending. There is typically quite a stunning array of guns on display and being used. While it's not possible with all of the guns, for anyone interested in seeing what it is like to shoot with a high end vintage SxS, I know a few will be available to be tried out on the skeet field. Additionally, as in past years, attendees will get to vote on Gun of the Year. And I'm pretty sure there will be some spectacular guns to choose from. That said, ALL are welcome, both the people and the guns. So if you want to bring your working SxS that has earned it's stripes in the field, we'd love to see them as well.

The skeet aspect of the day is a fun and casual ad hoc shoot, not a serious competition. The point is to get those SxS on the range. But that doesn't mean there isn't some fine shooting going on. Just not by me!

One development that had been naturally occurring over the years was a bit of a buy/sell table for guns and accessories. I think we will see a bit of that again this year so if you have a hankering to dip your toe into the vintage SxS world, there will probably be a few to consider that you can shoulder and likely shoot.

Anyone who is interested in joining us, besides posting in the thread, please PM me with your name and email so I can contact you quickly with updates. And please let potentially interested parties who aren't from CGN know about the shoot. We are non exclusive.....you don't have to be a Gunnutz....it just helps.

Here's a link to the thread on last year's event, which was a great success despite a two year hiatus because of Covid and the absence of the founder of the Classic, VictoryXC. Hopefully this year Patrick will manage not to double book the event with a trip to Alberta!

There will be subsequent posts with more information and I will start a post to list all those who are trying to attend. Please make a note in this thread or message me if you are intending to come and also let me know if it's just you or will you be bringing anyone.

Also, as the Liberals continue to screw us in so many ways, gas has become quite expensive. Anyone who is willing to car pool, especially those coming from a significant distance.....I'm thinking down around London and points west as well as Eastern Ontario as far as Ottawa (Big Bad I'm thinking of you!), should post on this thread and perhaps we can get two or three together to share costs and make the drive more enjoyable.

See you all in June!

Come join us! Only a couple days of travel ;) and then we’d have guests from one end of the country to the other!

Well a brilliant idea struck. I could pack up a few toys and drive 10 hours west to Cowtown Bill’s place. From there we could send our wives off to some glitzy place like Las Vegas for a week, load up some of Bill’s treasures and head west. Another four long days on the road should put us into southern Ontario and after a couple of days of rehab we should be ready to play. What do you think Bill?
