7x57

Yes, Withworth are an Interarms trade name and used Zastava barreled actions. Charles Daly are also Zastava.
That's funny, because such guns have a collector value while Zastava itself are either "collecting dust" or serve as workhorse with no collectors interest...
Then, what we see here is that when these actions (Santa Barbara and Zastava) are stocked by others, they worth more and when it's done "in house" it's considered as low end...
Of course, the Yugo era stocks were not that great, with tinted wood, false rosewood, so-so sanding and generous gaps here and there... but at the end, they are the same-same barreled actions.

I have a Ruger No.1 AB in 7x57 and love it. I didn't read this whole thread. Just wondering what is my best bet for factory ammo in this rifle!

Almost anything not loaded in North America. Try Norma, RWS, S&B or PRVI....all loaded to eurospec standards, and tap into the 7x57's potential.
Regards, Dave.

thank you very kindly, kind Sir. I hope I can find some of this good stuff. I know I did find a partial box of Norma by a lucky chance at a gun show in the past!

Just a note on the Santa Barbara actions. I have seen one take a severe over pressure condition with out failure. They may not be the best finished but the quality of steel and heat treat in the vast majority of them made is obviously more than up to the task. I have owned more than a few Santa Barbara actions over the years and have found them to be reliable and they do slick up with some use.

I have 2 7x57's and to my surprise they both like the cheap Winchester power point 145 grain best. Much tighter groups in my guns and these bullets perform well. I have taken several moose with them.

My hunting pardner uses PRVI in his 7X57 and has done for several years.
He bought a case of it at an auction planning to use the brass and it shoots so well in his rifle that he doesn't bother reloading for it. Bullet performance on game is excellent and he has put a lot of meat in his freezer and mine with it..

I can echo my experience with PRVI 173 grain soft points... accurate and hard hitting. The brass is quality and definitely good for many reloads. I save my brass, and one day I might reload for it, but as Kevan has indicated, I see no reason right now... factory loads work great out of my two 7x57 rifles and if the meat in the freezer could talk, they'd tell you the same thing!

I have found Winchester Power Points to be very accurate in pretty much any rifle I have tried them in, including the 145's in my Ruger 7x57.
When I get a new rifle I usually use a box of Power Points to test the rifle out prior to doing any handloading.
The best groups I've ever shot from my go-to moose rifle, a Ruger MKII .300 Win Mag were with 180 PP's.
