7X57R ammo source in Canada?

Howdy.
Cannot find any information on 7X57R. At one point I thought that it was the same dimensions as the 7mm mauser, but had a rimmed case instead of rimless. Is this true?

Can the same load data be used for teh two rounds? Dies (with different shellholders)?

I am going to the library tonight to see what I can find, but I do not know if they have many books on this subject area.

They have the same dimensions and use the same dies, of course a dif. shellholder. In factory ammo and recommended loads the 7X57R is loaded 5-10% lighter as it is mostly used in hinge actions, such as drillings, o/u, etc. Bolt guns tend to stand higher pressures then break actions. There are other Euro cals. that are similar ie: .375 H&H and .375R., etc.
 
Thanks Ben. I googled the hell out of it; lots of Euro language sites,and some sites that dealt with it in isolation. Nothing about the two of them together.

I did manage to find the Hornady reloading manual at the library, and it says exactly what you did.....reduce loads by 10-15%.

I am now the owner of a double rifle, and combo gun in the caliber, so now I need to find some brass.

I know both S&B and Prvi make 7x57r rounds; anyone know if the Canadian distributor brings these in? Local guy stocks Prvi, but is away until March. I will ask when he gets back if they are available. He does have 6 boxes of the rimless in stock.

Any body know of a source for 7x57r in Edmonton?

You might be able to make brass from 9.3X74R but don't quote me, the 9.3 is a little more popular with ruger and others making guns for it. May have to fireform the brass once it's made as shoulder may need expanding somewhat. I'm not really up on these eurocals.
 
Last weekend I noticed that Del Selin Gunsmith in Vernon, BC had new 7 x 57 R brass in stock. I didn't notice the price. Tel 250-545-6413
 
Tradex sells Sellier and Bellot, 173 grain $24 a box plus flat fee of $18 shipping for as many boxes as you want. It is cheaper loaded than most empty brass I ever found, and it shoots pretty good out of many 7x57R rifles.
