I cleaned it pretty thoroughly, I'm not sure what the culprit was. It was fairly easy to pop the broken case out, one easy tap with a block of wood on a brass rod. Haven't had an issue in 500 or so shots since.

And how does it work? do you chuck it up in a drill and give it a spin like honing a cylinder in an engine block or something?
I put some oil down the bore of mine, let the rifle cool with the oil in it. Took the cleaning rod from an SKS and bounced it off the casing, through the bore, three times. Casing came out. I wiped out the chamber and oiled it.
Continued to fire without issue. This was the first time this happened to me after about 2500 rounds. I did not properly clean and oil the rifle after the previous range visit.
I did have a pretty big pouty face when it happened though.

I used the drill method listed here on this forum. Removed the stock and took a cleaning rod through the bolt hole for the stock. Attached rod to my variable speed drill. Used a 30 cal brass brush wrapping it with shotgun cleaning patches. I applied Autosol metal polish to the numerous patches I used and turned the brush/patches at a medium speed until I thought it was polished enough.
Autosol works great as a metal polish and I have used it on stainless guns in the past with excellent results. Here are some pic's, first two are before and 2nd two are after the polishing.

Used a flashlight in the 3rd and 4th pic's to try and show how much smoother the chamber was.

I thought I kept her super clean but I guess that lacquer crap is an invisible menace?! Anyhow when I get her back I'm gonna clean the chamber and bore like crazy with solvent (and wifey's nail polish remover?). Hopefully this doesn't happen again but I'll be sure to bring along a rod next time to the range.

could always line up a 22lr with shorts in it and try firing one down the bore of the 858, don't try this at home and this is all tongue in cheek but I'd be willing to bet someone has tried it sometime through the years, may have strengthened the gene pool but the though of it is fun to contemplate. Much like the nut that tried to loosen a lug nut on his tire in Washington with a 12 guage, didn't work so well shooting that buck shot into a bowl. not sure what the lead count in his face was, but don't think any pellets went missing.

Quickly do my IA and SH!T, casing stuck in the chamber.
The extractor actually tore off a piece of the rim when it tried to extract.
Nothing I have done so far has worked to remove it. I figure I'll be stopping at Valley Gunsmithing on next week when I head to Ottawa.

Had the very same thing happen to mine a couple days ago.
It had been given the Windex washdown followed by a good bore scrubbing using Hoppes #9 and 30 caliber patches.
It happened just as yours did on the first round.
I took a solid brass cleaning rod and drove the buggered case out that way.
What surprised me was how much effort it took to pop it free.
Ran 160 rounds through it right after clearing the chamber without a hiccup.
I had my first stuck case ever, in about 8k, this afternoon. Extractor tore a chunk off the rim, like normal.
I clean my guns and the chambers are fine. All it took was a light tap on a rod to knock it out. From that I'd say some of the cases may have weak rims. In other words, in can happen regardless of the condition your rifle is in.

Mine's a 4V with the chrome-lined barrel and it happened to me. I agree with Stevo that it's quite possibly the ammo regardless of how immaculately cleaned your baby is. Not saying mine was immaculate Heck, my smith just told me he knows of a guy who wipes his bullets down (with what I dunno!) before use! That would definitely suck in a zombie attack scenario, hehehe.

I gave mine a flat out rapid fire marathon after that first jam and it ran just fine.
By the time I was done I could have lit a cigarette off the barrel and I couldnt get it to repeat the stuck case/ripped case rim.

Can anyone post a picture up of the INTERNALS of their 58?
I believe mine is missing a locking mechanism. Besides jamming, broken casings and now it simply wont fire. Its my opinion that had I known before hand all these issues I wouldnt have wasted my time or money on garbage.
